          NEW

          SUGAR BOARDS
          CLASSES : PS - XII

In alignment with CBSE’s health and wellness initiatives, Delhi Public School, Dwarka launched the “How Sweet is Too Sweet Campaign” to cultivate awareness among students about the harmful effects of excessive sugar consumption and to promote healthy dietary habits. The campaign aimed to instill mindfulness in food choices and encourage lifelong wellness practices.

To support the growing need to address health concerns such as obesity, dental issues, and nutritional deficiencies, students actively participated in a series of informative and interactive sessions. Creative sugar boards were prepared, and children brought nutritious, low-sugar tiffins, encouraging healthier lunch practices. The school campus was decorated with vibrant bulletin boards displaying sugar-related facts, posters, and awareness messages to serve as constant visual reminders of the campaign's core message.

Students pledged their commitment to healthier choices by contributing to ‘My Healthy Pledge Wall’, where they wrote down personal promises to reduce sugar intake. A JAM session titled “I will consume less sugar because…” encouraged students to articulate their understanding of sugar's impact and express their motivation to adopt better habits. These activities were designed to promote critical thinking and reinforce the importance of moderation in sugar consumption.

An oral health awareness session was conducted by a medical professional to educate students on the direct link between sugar and dental health. Teachers also facilitated classroom-based PowerPoint presentations and discussions that emphasized the broader effects of processed sugar on the body, promoting healthier food alternatives.

Further strengthening the initiative, a poster-making competition was held on the theme “Limit Sugar, Live Better”, sparking creative expression while reinforcing the campaign’s goals. In the “Know Your Sugar Level Challenge”, students brought sugar data from home and engaged in a fun comparative learning session. Storytelling sessions focused on saying “No to Sugar” were conducted to build early awareness and instill healthy attitudes from a young age.

A Healthy Tiffin Day was observed, where students shared their thoughtfully packed, low-sugar meals, helping each other explore new and nutritious food choices. To promote physical activity as a complementary strategy for health, a Fitness Initiative involving short, guided exercise sessions was also introduced.

A session on label reading, led by the science faculty, educated students on identifying hidden sugars in packaged foods and interpreting nutritional labels, enabling informed decision-making. To wrap up the campaign on an interactive note, students used Selfie Boards with health slogans and watched selected advertisements related to sugar awareness, making the learning process both engaging and impactful.

The How Sweet is Too Sweet Campaign was a holistic program that combined information, interaction, and involvement to drive home the message of mindful sugar consumption. Through a blend of creative expression, scientific education, and reflective thinking, students were encouraged to make informed dietary choices. The campaign successfully fostered an environment of awareness, responsibility, and health consciousness, which was well received by the entire school community.

                                  TIMES OF INDIA SUMMER CAMP

                                  TIMES OF INDIA SUMMER CAMP

The Times of India organised a comprehensive Summer Training Editorial Program for NIE members under the tutelage of a leading journalist team. Riddhi Prasad of Class XI–C was selected to represent Delhi Public School, Dwarka in this Summer Camp which was held from 26th to 30th May 2025. The camp provided an engaging and comprehensive introduction to the world of journalism, combining theory with hands-on application.

The programme began with an overview of key journalistic concepts, such as the ‘Inverted Pyramid' structure and the 5Ws and 1H (Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How). Participants were also introduced to the various roles within a newsroom and the editorial workflow behind newspaper production.

The participants evaluated newspapers based on their content and design using a sticker-based visual feedback system. They also took part in a role-play exercise, portraying both public figures and reporters, which offered a practical understanding of the challenges of real-time reporting and interviewing.

A postcard-writing activity that fostered personal expression was also organised followed by a collaborative project in which student groups designed and presented a complete newspaper edition. This activity honed editorial judgment, teamwork, creativity, and time management skills. Riddhi Prasad also received a ‘Certificate of Honour’ from the Editor for her outstanding work.

As part of experimental learning, the delegates visited the Times of India Press Plant in Sahibabad, where they observed the intricate process of newspaper printing and distribution. A guided tour of the press floor allowed them to witness high-speed machines in action and understand the logistics of mass media production.

The final leg of the camp included a visit to the Times of India office in Noida, including an insightful session at the Radio Mirchi studio. Here, our student Riddhi Prasad interacted with Mr. Krishan Thapar, Radio Jockey, gaining awareness of audio scripting, voice modulation, and radio broadcasting techniques. She also visited the live news broadcast section to observe a telecast in progress and learned about the technology and precision involved in television journalism.

The Times of India Summer Camp was an enriching and intellectually stimulating experience for our student. It offered a deeper understanding of the journalism landscape through hands-on and interactive sessions. Her communication, critical thinking, and collaborative abilities were meaningfully enhanced. Exposure to real media environments deepened her curiosity and sharpened her perspective. The camp has laid a strong foundation for future exploration in media and mass communication.

The day began with an engaging session led by teachers, where the young learners explored the vital role doctors play in healing lives and serving society.

Students actively participated in the discussion, sharing their own thoughts and stories about doctors who had made a difference in their lives. The highlight of the activity was a special worksheet featuring the red carnation—the symbolic flower of this day, representing love, charity, sacrifice, and courage.

Adding a fun twist to the celebration, students also learned how to make a simple stethoscope using everyday materials—a creative way to understand the tools of a doctor’s trade!
