The students of Class III-E conducted a heartwarming assembly on the topic "Smile – The Key That Fits the Lock of Everybody’s Heart." The assembly highlighted the power of a smile in spreading joy, strengthening relationships, and enhancing overall well-being.

The program began with the prayer, followed by a medal distribution ceremony recognizing students for their outstanding achievements. The school choir brightened everyone's day with their soulful performance. The thought for the day encouraged everyone to embrace challenges with a positive mindset. Through speeches and a poem, students beautifully conveyed how a simple smile can boost confidence, improve health, and create happiness, making the world a better place.

The assembly also celebrated Basant Panchami, marking the arrival of spring and honouring Maa Saraswati, the goddess of wisdom and arts.

The assembly concluded with a news update and the National Anthem. It was a joyful and inspiring experience, leaving everyone with a deeper appreciation for the power of a smile.

An educational trip was organised for the students of Class I to the Air Force Museum, Palam, New Delhi on Thursday, 30 January 2025. The experience proved to be an enriching one for the young learners.

The museum showcased a vast collection of aircrafts, including vintage planes, helicopters, modern fighter jets. Some of the notable exhibits included Spitfire, Tiger Moth, and MiG-25. The museum also features an impressive display of aircraft engines, radar systems and communication equipments along with the War Memorial Gallery.

Students keenly observed the display gallery that contained uniforms and personal weapons of the Indian Air Force, from its inception in 1932.  Children were guided by an official, who enlightened them about various anti-aircraft guns, vehicles, radar equipment, war trophies and enemy vehicles.

The excursion proved to be a fun-filled learning experience for the young children. It not only provided them with knowledge about aviation and the Air Force but also sparked their curiosity and imagination.

The emotional well-being of young learners is crucial for their overall development. To help Class 1 students become more aware of their feelings and confidently express their emotions, a series of activities were conducted in Rhythm Prism Week from Monday,   27 January 2025 to Thursday, 30 January 2025. These activities aimed to foster self-awareness, emotional expression and empathy in a supportive and engaging environment.

27.1.25 - Let’s make our Binoculars.

To enhance the creativity and fine motor skills of the learners, a fun filled craft activity was conducted wherein learners created and decorated binoculars. The activity helped in building the confidence of the students.

28.1.25 - My Book of Feelings!

Students identified and labelled their emotions by making a - A to Z book of feelings. This helped them recognize, understand and express different feelings and associate them with their personal experiences. The activity provided them with a non-verbal way to express themselves.

30.1.25 -  What makes me Happy (Speaking Activity)

To improve emotional awareness and self-expression among students a speaking activity was conducted through which the students reflected their emotions and connected with their peers. They spoke a few lines about the things that make them happy.
The students displayed great enthusiasm throughout the week. They actively participated in all activities, showing a keen interest in learning. It provided a playful yet educational learning and engagement.

The Pre-Primary students enthusiastically celebrated 'People Who Help Us Week' from Monday, 27 January to Friday, 31 January 2025, engaging in a series of interactive activities to appreciate community helpers and understand their roles in society.

To express gratitude to school helpers like maids, guards, and other staff, children created beautiful bouquets using craft material and personally presented them as a token of appreciation.

Students compiled a creative scrapbook, pasting pictures of various community helpers along with the tools they use.
29 January 2025 – Intra-Section Speaking Skills Competition

Students confidently shared what they aspire to become when they grow up, using relevant props to make their presentations more engaging.
31 January 2025 – Shopping Bonanza

A lively marketplace was set up in the Pre-Primary courtyard where young learners took on the roles of shopkeepers, customers, and salespersons. Using pretend money, they experienced buying and selling goods, deepening their understanding of economic exchanges and the role of helpers in daily life. They also crafted their own money pouches, adding a creative touch to the activity.
All the activities were thoroughly enjoyed by one and all!

Republic Day was celebrated by the students of Pre – School - II on Friday, 24 January 2025 to honor the spirit of freedom and the brave freedom fighters who made our independence possible. The activities organized for the day aimed to instill a sense of patriotism and love for our nation among the young students.

The day began with an engaging PowerPoint presentation which helped the Preschoolers understand the significance of Republic Day in a fun and interactive way. Students of class Pre-Primary danced to the beats of patriotic songs in the Pre-Primary courtyard, The little ones then participated in a creative craft activity where they made tri-color-themed crafts to take home. This activity sparked their creativity and gave them a chance to express their love for the country.:

Students of Classes I & II were shown videos explaining why and how we celebrate Republic Day. Through these videos, they learned about the importance of the Constitution and the sacrifices of our freedom fighters. Afterwards, a class discussion allowed them to share their thoughts on how they celebrate Republic Day at home.

The students also participated in exciting activities like making tri-color badges and coloring the National Flag in their booklets. These hands-on activities not only enhanced their understanding of the festival but also filled them with a sense of pride and patriotism.

The Republic Day celebrations concluded with a sense of unity and joy among the students. Each activity was aimed at helping the children appreciate the values of freedom, democracy, and unity while fostering their creative and critical thinking skills. We are proud to have celebrated this significant day with our students and to have inspired them to honor their nation.

Every year we, at DPSD, reaffirm our loyalty to our country, acknowledging the sacrifices by our unsung heroes, and rededicate ourselves to building a stronger and better India. An India of our dreams, built on the sweat, toil and aspirations of millions of Indians in villages, towns, metros and across the length and breadth of our country.

The assembly was initiated with a soulful prayer by Principal ma’am paying homage to our beloved nation. The school choir took stage and filled the air with beats of patriotism.

‘The Thought for the Day' laid significance on the importance of the Republic Day. This was followed by an informative ‘Talk Show’, providing a dynamic platform to discuss and celebrate India's expansion.

The recitation of poems left the audience mesmerised instilling the sense of faithfulness towards our Motherland, India.

The ideals of Justice, Liberty, Equality and Fraternity, that ensure the nature of the state that is a Sovereign, Socialist, Secular, Democratic republic, were highlighted. This festival of our country was a collective pledge to continue our journey with unswerving conviction, encouraging the citizens to break shackles of orthodoxy and trot towards new heights.

On January 24, 2025, the students of classes II – V celebrated the 76th Republic Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor. The special morning assembly was conducted by Ganges House, and it was a heartwarming event that reminded everyone of the importance of this national festival.

The program began with a warm welcome by the students, who greeted the Principal, Vice-Principal, teachers, and students with heartfelt Republic Day wishes. A patriotic song was sung, filling the atmosphere with pride and devotion towards our country.

The students presented several inspiring speeches, describing the beauty and richness of India. They spoke about the rivers, nature, and the cultural heritage of our great nation. Through their words, they reminded everyone of the glorious past of India and the sacrifices made by our leaders to make our country free and democratic.

The highlight of the assembly was the students’ dedication to the ideals of the Indian Constitution and their pledge to uphold the values of unity and equality. The program concluded with a patriotic poem recitation, leaving everyone inspired and proud to be citizens of this great nation.

The assembly was not only a celebration of Republic Day but also an opportunity for young students to learn about their duties towards the nation and the importance of living in harmony.

The event ended with everyone joining in the chant of "Bharat Mata Ki Jai," instilling a sense of pride and unity among all present. It was truly a memorable celebration for the primary students of classes II to V.

To pay tribute to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, the students of classes III,IV and V of DPS Dwarka celebrated his birth anniversary on Thursday, 23 January 2025. Netaji was  one of India’s greatest freedom fighters. This day is observed as Parakram Diwas and is celebrated with great enthusiasm and respect by all.

Netaji played a pivotal role in Indian independence movement . He was the head of Indian National Army and was the founder-head of the Azad Hind Fauj.

The students did a worksheet highlighting Netaji's significant role in India’s freedom struggle and his inspiring leadership qualities. Through the activity students learnt about his famous slogan "Give me blood, and I will give you freedom”. They identified and learnt about other revolutionary leaders too with the help of the pictures given.

The event served as a memorable tribute to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and added a valuable learning experience to the young mind.

The much-anticipated ‘Stellar Trails – The Sports Carnival 2025’ was successfully organized on Tuesday, 21 January 2025. More than 1300 students participated from classes III to VIII. The event was an incredible celebration of athleticism, teamwork, and cultural performances.

It was a privilege to have esteemed guests grace the occasion. The guests included Mr. Raj Kumar Sharma – Former cricketer and Dronacharya Awardee, Mr. Ajay Tomar – Retired Deputy Commissioner of Delhi Police and President Medal Awardee, Mr. Joginder Singh Saharan– Basketball player in the Services Team, Mr. Ankit – Captain of Patna Pirates, Pro-Kabaddi League, Army Red Team and Services Player and Mr. Devank Dalal-Raider in the Pro-Kabaddi League. Their presence was an inspiration to the students, emphasizing the value of sportsmanship and discipline.

The programme commenced with the Welcome Choir and the Flag Hoisting ceremony, followed by the March Past by Class VIII students. The March Past was indeed a memorable showcase of precision, coordination and community pride. A stirring welcome address was delivered by the Principal, Mrs. Priya Narayanan, setting an inspiring tone for the event. She emphasised the fact that in sports, true victory is found in participating and embracing the valuable lessons learnt along the way. Followed by this, Mr. Sharma showered his blessings and encouraged children to participate in sports activities, emphasising their role in improving health, shaping personality and fostering growth.

One of the highlights of the event was the Torch Run - symbolizing the spirit of sportsmanship and unity, with the Girls and Boys Sports Captains from the Primary and Senior Wing, proudly carrying the torch across the ground. Moreover, the Rajputana Army Band displayed spectacular grandeur and truly captivated the audience. Their precision and discipline left everyone spellbound.

A variety of track events were organised which included Inter-House Races across various distances (100 m, 200 m), an entertaining Colour Burst Race (Class III) and Relay Races for both boys and girls in all the classes. Students participated with great zest and zeal. A total of five prize distribution ceremonies were held to recognize the outstanding achievements of students.

Special events such as Hand-in-Hand Baker’s Delight Race (Classes III – V) and Fun Target Race (Classes VI-VIII) focused upon inclusivity, wherein special learners found joy in contributing and learning together, embracing their differences positively.

A variety of Cultural Performances were also a part of this mega event. Vibrant displays such as the Fitness Dance, Yoga, Rhythmic Dance, Synergy Dance and Taekwondo Demonstration showcased the students' artistic talents, discipline and team spirit which left everyone enthralled.

The carnival culminated with a vibrant and electrifying Grand Finale, featuring the Celebration Dance by Class VII. The performance was a tribute to the spirit of sportsmanship, unity, and cultural diversity. It mesmerised the audience and provided the perfect conclusion to a day filled with energy and inspiration. The Vote of Thanks was proposed, followed by the National Anthem. The event not only encouraged active participation but also fostered a spirit of healthy competition and camaraderie amongst students.

To foster curiosity, observation, and hands-on exploration among the children a series of engaging activities were conducted in the preschool from Monday, 20 January 2025 to Friday, 24 January 2025.

Monday, 20 January 2025: Rolling Wonders
The week began with children exploring objects that roll. They observed how objects like balls, cylinders, and wheels rolled and discussed the factors influencing their movement. A bowling game was organised, where children practiced rolling balls to hit pins. This activity enhanced their understanding of shapes and motion while promoting hand-eye coordination and teamwork.

Tuesday, 21 January 2025: Aqua Wonders
Children were engage in a hands-on experiment to identify objects that sink or float in water. Using materials such as wooden blocks, spoons, paper, and plastic items, they made predictions and observed the outcomes. The activity encouraged the scientific thinking and enhanced their ability of categorization based on observations.

Wednesday, 22 January 2025: Sky Soarers
A nature walk was organized for children to observe the sky and identify objects that fly, such as birds, kites, and airplanes. Back in the classroom, a slideshow showcasing various flying objects was shown reinforcing their observations and introducing new concepts.

Thursday, 23 January 2025: Up and Down
Children observed the movement of objects that go up and down, such as bouncing balls and swings. A ball-dribbling activity allowed them to witness and control this motion. This activity improved their motor skills and understanding of gravity and movement.

Friday, 24 January 2025: Round and Round
The week concluded with the classic game of Ring Around the Roses. Through this fun and energetic activity, children experienced the concept of circular motion. They also practiced coordination and group play while enjoying the game.

In accordance with the Winter Action Plan 2024-25 mandated by the Directorate of Education, GNCT of Delhi, DPS Dwarka organized the following activity in January to enhance awareness about e-waste management and environmental conservation among students from Classes VI to XII:

Lecture on Waste Segregation and Harmful Impact of E-Waste

Speaker: Ms. Jasmeet Kaur, Senior Teacher
Focus: The lecture aimed to educate students about the importance of e-waste segregation and the hazardous effects of improper e-waste disposal on human health and the environment. Key topics included responsible recycling, reducing e-waste generation, and sustainable disposal methods.
This session successfully engaged students in discussions on responsible e-waste management, reinforcing DPS Dwarka’s commitment to environmental awareness as part of the objectives of Winter Action Plan.

As part of the Awareness and Sensitization Module, Makar Sankranti was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the students of classes III to V on Tuesday, 14 January 2025.

The day began with teachers highlighting the significance of the festival and how it is celebrated in various ways across different regions of India. A class discussion followed, focusing on how Makar Sankranti marks the end of winter and the beginning of longer days, symbolizing the return of warmer weather and a new harvest season. The festival also serves as an opportunity to express gratitude to the Sun God, embrace new beginnings, and welcome positive changes.

Students engaged in a creative activity involving a worksheet on Pongal Pot. They colored and decorated the pot under the guidance of their teachers and proudly displayed their work in the classroom.

The celebration concluded with students gaining a deeper understanding of the cultural significance of Makar Sankranti. The events of the day not only made learning enjoyable but also instilled a sense of appreciation for the rich traditions associated with the festival.

As part of the Sensitization and Awareness Module, the students of classes III to V came together on Tuesday, 14 January 2025 to celebrate Global Family Day.

This special day serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of unity and collaboration. It encourages people from all walks of life to come together, fostering kindness and breaking down barriers of culture, religion, and nationality.

The day began with teachers highlighting the significance of Global Family Day. They inspired students to reflect on the meaning of family and unity, urging them to share their thoughts and ideas. The students of class III showcased their creativity by bringing articles, drawings, paintings, and pictures on theme "Family is Forever!"

These were put up on the corridor boards, spreading warmth and love throughout the school.

The students of classes IV and V took on the theme "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam," a profound Sanskrit phrase meaning "The World is One Family." Under the guidance of their teachers, they prepared beautiful displays for their corridor boards, symbolizing global unity and harmony.

The celebration of Global Family Day was not just an event but a heartfelt expression of the values that bind us all together!

The young learners of Pre-School and Pre-Primary celebrated the festival of Lohri with great enthusiasm and delight on Monday, 13 January 2025.

The festivities began with engaging discussions led by the teachers, who used colorful PowerPoint presentations to explain the significance of the festival and all other harvest festivals celebrated by different states of India. The children eagerly participated, sharing heartwarming stories of how they celebrated Lohri with their families. They then worked on a worksheet depicting a Lohri scene, using materials provided by their teachers. The highlight of the celebration was when the children brought popcorn and groundnuts, joyfully sharing these festive treats with their friends.

The day was filled with laughter and cheer, leaving a lasting impression of happiness and togetherness in everyone's hearts.

Introduction:
As part of the Sleep Hygiene Initiative launched under the guidance of the National Progressive School’s Conference (NPSC), an awareness program was conducted for students of classes 6 to 9 during Life Skills sessions. The initiative aimed to promote the importance of good sleep hygiene among adolescents and equip them with the knowledge and habits required for a healthy and restorative lifestyle.

Activities Undertaken:
To engage students and ensure effective learning, the following activities were organized:

Sleep Log Exercise:

Students maintained a personal sleep log for one week, recording their bedtime, wake-up time, and any challenges faced in achieving quality sleep. This activity helped students reflect on their current sleep patterns and identify areas for improvement.

Classroom Discussions:

Teachers facilitated interactive discussions, emphasizing the importance of adequate sleep for physical, emotional, and cognitive well-being. Students shared their observations from the sleep log, which led to insightful exchanges about the impact of poor sleep habits on academic performance, mood, and overall health.

PowerPoint Presentation (PPT):

A detailed PPT on sleep hygiene was presented, covering key topics such as the role of sleep in brain development, tips for creating a sleep-friendly environment, and the consequences of chronic sleep deprivation. The presentation included visuals, statistics, and real-life examples to keep the sessions engaging.

Outcome:

The program successfully raised awareness about sleep hygiene among students of classes 6 to 9. Through the activities, students gained a deeper understanding of how sleep affects their daily lives and learned practical steps to improve their sleep routines.

Conclusion:

The Sleep Hygiene Awareness Program fostered a culture of self-reflection and mindfulness regarding sleep among adolescents. It empowered students to make informed decisions about their health, contributing to a more balanced student community.
