CLASS-X WORKSHOP ON THE POWER OF CHARACTER

WORKSHOP ON THE POWER OF CHARACTER
      Day/Date: Monday, 20 April 2026

      Overview

Ms. Smritika Saggi and Ms. Karuna Sehrawat conducted an interactive workshop for Class X, reframing "character" as a practical toolkit for high performance. The session focused on helping students manage the academic and social pressures of their board year by choosing "The High Road" in their daily interactions. The session was conducted in the School Auditorium on Monday, 20 April 2026.

      About the Workshop

The workshop covered the following concepts

      1. Kindness (The Stress Reliever): Beyond being "nice," kindness was presented as a physiological win. Facilitators explained that helping others releases oxytocin, which naturally lowers cortisol (stress) levels essential for exam-season mental health
      2. Respect (High EQ): Respect was defined as Emotional Intelligence. Using the "90-Second Rule," students learned to allow the logical brain to override impulsive reactions, fostering a classroom environment of Psychological Safety where they can innovate without fear of mockery.
      3. Discipline (The Success System): Moving away from the idea of "punishment," discipline was framed as a system of consistency. The "5-Minute Rule" was introduced to combat procrastination, emphasizing that habits, not fleeting motivation, drive results.

      Key Takeaways for students

      1. The Toothpaste Metaphor: A vivid warning on digital and verbal footprints-once a comment is made or a post is sent, the impact cannot be "un-squeezed" or taken back.
      2. The "THINK" Filter: A mental check before speaking: Is it True, Helpful, Inspiring, Necessary, and Kind?
      3. Conflict Resolution: Students were encouraged to adopt the "Talk to peers for solutions" approach, resolving disagreements through private, logical dialogue rather than public escalation or gossip.
      4. Self-Respect & Boundaries

The facilitators emphasized that "you cannot pour from an empty cup." Students were taught to set healthy boundaries and maintain internal standards, ensuring that their self-worth is tied to their character rather than just their academic marks.

      Conclusion & Challenge

The session closed with a "24-Hour Character Workout":

      Kindness: Give an anonymous compliment.

Respect: Practice 100% active listening without interrupting.

Discipline: Complete the most difficult task first.

Final Takeaway: Character is a muscle that requires daily exercise. By choosing these values, Class 10 students don't just improve themselves—they elevate the entire school culture.

Throughout the session, students remained enthusiastic, actively engaged, and supportive of one another, reflecting a strong sense of teamwork and mutual respect.

The programme successfully achieved its objectives by enhancing awareness about Hemophilia in a relatable and impactful manner, while also nurturing empathy, responsibility, and inclusive attitude among students. CLASS XII HERITAGE WALK

HERITAGE WALK ON THE OCCASION OF WORLD HERITAGE DAY

To commemorate World Heritage Day the History Department of DPS Dwarka organised an educational trip to Mehrauli Archaeological Park in association with INTACH Delhi Chapter on Friday, 17 April 2026, for the students of Humanities of Class XII. The walk leader presented every monument and historical detail with scholarly precision and aesthetic sensitivity.

Students visited the Jamali Kamali Mosque and Tomb, where they observed the defining features of Indo-Islamic architecture in red sandstone and marble, pointed arches, geometric ornamentation, and the co-location of mosque and tomb reflecting the transitional aesthetic between the Lodi and Mughal eras.

They then visited the Rajon ki Baoli stepwell; here, students learned how lime mortar, unlike modern cement, preserved structures through breathability and flexibility. They also discovered the passive thermal regulation achieved by the deep stepwell design, a sophisticated feat of pre-modern environmental architecture.

The students were apprised about the conservation techniques used by the ASI to preserve these monuments. The walk concluded at the tomb of Quli Khan adjacent to the park.

The students also visited Lodi era baoli at sector -12 Dwarka. The walk was an immensely enriching experience, bridging classroom learning with living history.

                    Day/Date: Saturday, 11 April 2026

Delhi Public School, Dwarka organised a training session on National Curriculum Framework for School Education 2023, a six-hour workshop conducted by CBSE for 41 teachers on Saturday, 11 April 2026. The programme was facilitated by Ms. Aditi Roy, CBSE–COE Resource Person (Delhi East & West) and Ms. Nidhi Bhagra, CBSE Resource Person and Global Ambassador, All India Education Forum. The workshop aimed to strengthen teachers’ understanding of NCF 2023 and its practical application in classrooms, and was systematically conducted through four sessions.

The day began with a reflective dialogue on the importance of teachers’ mental health. Building on this thoughtful beginning, the session further focussed on the core principles and features of NCF 2023, particularly its learner-centric orientation, emphasis on competency-based assessment, integration of technology and the empowerment of teachers. Clarity was also provided on the structure of the NCF document and the progression from curricular aims to goals and learning outcomes. The concept of ‘Panch Koshas’, representing five-fold holistic development, was introduced, reinforcing the need to nurture all dimensions of a learner’s growth. The discussion additionally highlighted the importance of addressing diverse learning styles and incorporating play-based approaches to make pedagogy more engaging and inclusive.

The subsequent session offered a practical dimension through subject-specific group tasks. Teachers were provided with the NCF lesson planning template and encouraged to apply the concepts explored earlier. The activity resulted in creative and well-structured lesson plans that reflected interdisciplinary connections and catered to varied learner needs through thoughtfully designed tasks.

The third segment of the workshop centred on cross-cutting themes, drawing attention to areas that intersect with core subjects without diluting their primary focus. Themes such as values, inclusion, ICT, guidance and counselling, environmental awareness and rootedness in India were discussed in detail. Participants gained insight into how these dimensions can be seamlessly integrated into classroom teaching to foster well-rounded development.

The concluding session focussed on the implications of NCF 2023 for schools and outlined the way forward in terms of implementation. It included discussion on its practical application along with recent changes in the CBSE curriculum. The workshop concluded with an interactive doubt-clearing session, during which participants actively engaged with the resource persons to seek clarification on various aspects of NCF SE 2023.

Overall, the workshop proved to be highly enriching and thought-provoking. It marked Phase I of the school’s ongoing professional development initiatives centred on NCF 2023. The sessions enabled teachers to gain clarity, reflect on their practices and acquire actionable strategies, which are expected to significantly enhance classroom processes and contribute to more holistic and meaningful learning experiences for students.

Dressed in blue, the Counselling and Psychology department stood together in solidarity, promoting awareness and acceptance for the autism community.

The session aimed at strengthening teaching practices by aligning classroom instruction with a skill-based and competency-driven approach.

The workshop commenced on a positive note, wherein the resource person, Ms. Vinita Sareen, introduced the key features of the New Oxford Modern English course book. She elaborated that the course is thoughtfully designed to enhance learners’ reading, writing, listening, speaking, grammar, vocabulary, and creative thinking skills through well-structured chapters and engaging activities. She encouraged teachers to focus on developing competencies among learners rather than restricting teaching to mere question-answer practice from the textbook.

Ms. Sareen conducted an insightful discussion on preparing effective lesson plans using appropriate pedagogies such as experiential learning, collaborative learning, inquiry-based learning, storytelling, peer learning, and interactive classroom discussions. She emphasised the importance of creating a joyful and learner-friendly environment by incorporating warm- up activities, group tasks, brainstorming sessions, and reflection-based learning. Teachers were guided to make each lesson interactive and student-centred so that learners remain actively involved and confident in expressing their thoughts.

The session also highlighted the importance of subject integration, wherein English lessons can be linked with subjects like EVS, Social Studies, Science, Art, and Value Education. This integrated approach was explained as an effective strategy to help learners relate language learning to real-life experiences, thereby strengthening comprehension and communication skills.

A key focus of the workshop was the effective utilisation of Oxford digital resources and the Teacher’s Manual. The resource person explained the step-by-step process of accessing Oxford’s digital platform through login credentials and navigating chapter-wise resources.

Teachers were familiarised with the use of various e-resources such as lesson plans, worksheets, audio-visual content, interactive exercises, and answer keys. She also demonstrated how animations and digital teaching tools can make lessons more engaging, conceptually clear, and enjoyable for learners. Additionally, she described the Oxford Teacher’s Manual as a complete support system that provides learning objectives, competency mapping, suggested pedagogies, classroom activities, and assessment support.

The workshop further included a detailed explanation on framing class tests and question papers using Oxford resources. Teachers were guided on designing balanced assessments by including competency-based questions, comprehension tasks, grammar application exercise vocabulary enrichment activities, and writing skill-based questions. The process of selecting and generating assessment material from online resources was also explained.

The workshop concluded on an enriching note, leaving teachers with valuable insights and practical strategies to make classroom teaching more effective and meaningful. Overall, the session proved to be highly informative and encouraging, motivating teachers to adopt modern teaching methodologies, integrate digital tools, and promote joyful learning experiences for improved learning outcomes.
