​ CLASSES VI-IX & XI REPORT ON SPECIAL ASSEMBLY – 80TH INDEPENDENCE DAY OF INDIA

Delhi Public School, Dwarka organised a special assembly to commemorate the 80th Independence Day of India, presented by the Hindi and Sanskrit Departments on Friday, 14 August 2026. The assembly was a heartfelt tribute to the nation’s glorious journey of freedom, the valour of its freedom fighters, and the enduring spirit of patriotism and unity. The occasion was further enriched by the presence of Ms. Haruka Aratobi, a special Japanese delegate, who graced the assembly as a distinguished guest. Ms. Aratobi will be associated with the school as its Nihongo Partner for the entire academic session, facilitating meaningful cultural and linguistic exchange between India and Japan.

The celebrations commenced with flag hoisting by the Principal, evoking a deep sense of patriotism and pride among the students and staff. The ceremony set a dignified and patriotic tone for the proceedings, with the National Flag symbolising the values of freedom, unity, and national responsibility.

The assembly then commenced with a prayer, setting a positive and reflective tone for the proceedings, followed by a stirring choir presentation that filled the atmosphere with patriotic fervour and celebrated the spirit of the nation. An inspiring Thought for the Day reminded students of the sacrifices made by countless freedom fighters and encouraged them to value the freedom they enjoy today.

The spirit of patriotism was further brought alive through a poetry recitation presented simultaneously by two students, who complemented each other through their expressive rendition. Their powerful delivery paid tribute to the courage, sacrifice, and determination of the freedom fighters and resonated with the ideals of patriotism, unity, and national pride.

A significant highlight of the assembly was the talk show, in which students engaged in an insightful conversation about the brave freedom fighters of India. Through the exchange of ideas and perspectives, students brought to the forefront the extraordinary contributions and sacrifices of the men and women who played a pivotal role in India’s freedom struggle. The segment encouraged the audience to reflect upon the values of courage, resilience, patriotism, and selflessness embodied by these national heroes.

Adding vibrancy to the celebrations, a patriotic dance performance captivated the audience and beautifully portrayed the pride, diversity, and indomitable spirit of India. The performance served as a dynamic expression of national unity and cultural richness.

The assembly also featured a prize distribution ceremony, celebrating the achievements of students across various platforms. Prizes were presented to the winners of the Essay Writing Competition organised by the DPS Society, members of the Aeon Club of DPS Dwarka, and the winners of the Inter-School Debate Competition organised by DPS Mathura Road. The felicitation recognised students for their creativity, active participation, oratory skills, and accomplishments, while inspiring them to continue striving for excellence.

The programme concluded with the singing of the National Anthem, which brought the entire gathering together in a moment of collective pride, respect, and patriotism.

The special assembly served as a meaningful celebration of India’s 80th Independence Day, reminding students that the freedom earned through immense sacrifice carries with it the responsibility to build a progressive, united, and compassionate nation. The presence of Ms. Haruka Aratobi added an international dimension to the occasion, symbolising the importance of friendship, cultural understanding, and global exchange. ​ CLASS : II SPECIAL ASSEMBLY ON INDEPENDENCE DAY
Day/Date: Thursday, August 13 2026

To mark the 80^th Independence Day, class II students hosted a vibrant special assembly on Thursday, 13 August 2026. Students dressed in white outfits with tri-coloured sashes, the assembly began with the choir enthralling the audience and highlighting the immense significance of the day.

The young learners delivered slogans of famous freedom fighters and performed a lively show to celebrate India’s freedom.

Students’ enacted brief historical dialogues dressed up as National leaders like Bhagat Singh, Subhash Chandra Bose, Rani Lakshmibai and many more such personalities. The duties and responsibilities of youth to uphold unity and work towards the progress of the nation was highlighted upon.

The assembly served a vital educational purpose successfully instilling a sense of national pride and awareness of values of unity and liberty in our youngest minds. The assembly concluded with the collective singing of National Anthem leaving the audience filled with renewed love for the nation.

​ CLASSES : III-V SPECIAL ASSEMBLY BY GANGES HOUSE - INDEPENDENCE DAY
Day/Date: Thursday, August 13 2026

The school celebrated the 80^th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit. The special assembly was organised by the Ganges House of Primary Wing for classes III –V .The programme began with a warm welcome to the Principal, Vice-Principal, teachers and all the students.

The choir began the assembly with rendition of the patriotic song माँ तुझे सलाम expressing love and respect for our motherland .The students then presented a special Independence Day poem, reminding everyone of the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters and inspiring us to work together to make India proud.

A talk show on India’s freedom struggle was presented in which students portrayed the role of Bharat Mata and remembered the bravery of freedom fighters. Mangal Pandey was highlighted as a courageous soldier who stood against injustice during the Revolt of 1857. The programme also featured Rani Lakshmibai, who was a fearless warrior devoted to protecting her motherland.

The performances were followed by patriotic slogans that filled the atmosphere with energy and pride. The students conveyed the message that true patriotism means unity, hard work, responsibility and respect for the nation.

The assembly concluded with a pledge to uphold the values of freedom, unity and brotherhood and to contribute towards making India a better and stronger nation.

The celebration was an inspiring and memorable experience for everyone. It reminded us that the freedom we enjoy today was achieved through the courage and sacrifices of our brave freedom fighters.

​ CLASSES : II TO V RECREATIONAL ACTIVITY – INDEPENDENCE DAY THEME

To promote inclusion, confidence and holistic development among children with diverse needs, the Counselling Department (Primary Wing) organised a recreational activity on the theme of Independence Day. The activity provided them with a joyful platform to celebrate the spirit of patriotism and express themselves through creative performances.

The children enthusiastically participated in various activities including singing patriotic songs, dancing and reciting poems. They also held the National Flag with pride, creating a sense of unity, respect and celebration for the occasion.

The atmosphere was filled with happiness, enthusiasm and patriotic spirit as the children showcased their talents with confidence. Every performance and participation was warmly appreciated by teachers, making the activity a memorable and encouraging experience.

The activity celebrated individuality, creativity and inclusion. It encouraged children to express their abilities, develop confidence and participate in a supportive environment where every child felt valued and appreciated.

​ REPORT ON DANCE THERAPY ACTIVITY

Delhi Public School, Dwarka organised Dance Therapy activity for Children with Special Needs of Classes VI–VIII as part of the recreational activities. Conducted in collaboration with the Counselling Department and Dance Department, activity aimed to provide students with an enjoyable and supportive platform to express themselves through music and movement while encouraging physical, social and emotional development.

The session began with simple warm-up movements and stretches to help students become comfortable with the activity and prepare themselves for movement. This was followed by a variety of engaging dance-based activities, including Follow the Leader, action movements and group dance. The activities were designed using simple and easily adaptable movements so that students with varied abilities could participate meaningfully. Students were encouraged to imitate movements, respond to changes in music, follow verbal instructions and coordinate their movements with their peers.

The session also provided opportunities for students to make choices and express themselves through their own movements. The group activities encouraged cooperation, turn-taking and awareness of others. The facilitator provided appropriate prompts and encouragement to ensure that students remained engaged and comfortable throughout the session.

Students participated with enthusiasm and displayed positive responses to the music and movement activities. The session helped promote gross motor coordination, balance, body awareness and rhythm. It also supported attention, listening and following instructions. The group-based activities encouraged students to interact with their peers, work together and participate in a shared recreational experience.

Beyond the physical benefits, the activity provided students with an avenue for emotional expression and helped create a relaxed and positive atmosphere. Students were able to participate without the pressure of competition or performance, allowing them to enjoy movement at their own pace and comfort level. Their active participation and visible enjoyment reflected the effectiveness of recreational activities in creating meaningful opportunities for engagement.

Overall, the Dance Therapy activity was a successful and enriching experience. It provided students with a positive start to the day while supporting their physical coordination, confidence, communication, social interaction and emotional well-being.

​ CLASSES VI-VIII RICH RESOURCES OF INDIA AND INDIA’S GROWTH STORY

Delhi Public School, Dwarka conducted an insightful series of classroom assemblies on the theme ‘Rich Resources of India and India’s Growth Story’ across Classes VI, VII, and VIII on Tuesday, 11 August 2026. Organised by the students of all sections, the assemblies aimed to foster an appreciation of India’s abundant natural resources, rich cultural heritage, and remarkable journey of growth and development. Each class explored a distinct dimension of the theme, making the sessions informative, engaging, and thought-provoking.

The assemblies commenced with a prayer, setting a positive tone for the proceedings, followed by an inspiring Thought for the Day that encouraged students to value India’s natural and cultural wealth and recognise their role in contributing to the nation’s progress. Through informative PPT presentations, creative slogans, colourful posters, engaging skits, and thought-provoking talk shows, students brought alive the diverse facets of India’s resources, heritage, achievements, and aspirations.

Students of Class VI presented the topic ‘The Wealth Beneath Our Feet, Nature’s Gifts to India’, highlighting India’s rich reserves of minerals, fertile soil, forests, rivers, and other natural resources. Through their presentations and creative expressions, students emphasised the importance of conserving these invaluable resources and using them sustainably for the benefit of future generations.

Class VII explored ‘India: A Cultural Mosaic’, celebrating the country’s extraordinary diversity of languages, traditions, festivals, art forms, cuisines, and customs. The students showcased how the coexistence of diverse cultures strengthens India’s identity and reflects the spirit of unity in diversity. Their presentations, slogans, posters, and performances beautifully conveyed the richness of India’s cultural heritage.

Class VIII presented ‘India’s Growth Story: From Heritage to Global Leadership’, tracing India’s journey from its ancient knowledge systems and civilisational heritage to its emergence as a significant force in the contemporary global landscape. Through engaging talk shows and skits, students highlighted India’s progress in areas such as science and technology, space exploration, entrepreneurship, infrastructure, education, and innovation, while emphasising the importance of preserving the nation’s heritage alongside its pursuit of progress.

Adding further vibrancy to the assemblies, students displayed creative posters and impactful slogans celebrating India’s natural wealth, cultural diversity, achievements, and developmental journey. The skits and talk shows provided an interactive platform for students to reflect upon how responsible citizenship, innovation, sustainability, and respect for heritage can contribute to India’s continued growth.

The assemblies concluded with the singing of the National Anthem, fostering a sense of pride, unity, and collective responsibility towards the nation.

​CLASS : V AWARENESS AND SENSITIZATION MODULE WORLD BLOGGER DAY
Day/Date: Friday, 07 August 2026

As part of the Awareness and Sensitization Module, World Blogger Day was observed on 7 August 2026. Class V students participated in an engaging blog-writing activity on the theme “Friendship.” They came prepared with a meaningful quotation, a quality, or a special feature of a good friend and creatively incorporated their ideas into attractive blog posts on A-4 pastel sheets using sketch pens. The activity encouraged students to express their thoughts, appreciate the value of true friendship, and develop their creative writing and digital communication skills. It also reinforced the importance of kindness, trust, empathy, and respect in building strong friendships.

• The week began with an engaging Nature Walk where preschoolers explored the school garden and observed plants, flowers, insects, birds and butterflies. Children collected fallen leaves and sorted them based on their shape, size, colour and texture. The activity enhanced observation, classification, vocabulary and environmental awareness.

Day 2: Green Peek – Parts of a Plant

• Children explored a real potted plant and identified its roots, stem, leaves, flowers and buds. A colourful plant puzzle reinforced their learning while developing visual discrimination, fine motor skills, problem-solving abilities and curiosity about plant growth.

Day 3: Green Day Celebration

Wednesday, 05 August 2026

• Children celebrated Green Day dressed in vibrant shades of green. They created a collaborative Handprint Tree, participated in an exciting Balloon Balance Relay and decorated a Tortoise Craft using the tearing and pasting technique. The activities promoted creativity, teamwork, coordination, fine and gross motor skills and appreciation for nature.

Day 4: Visit to the School Nursery (Germination of Seeds & Tree Hug Circle Time)

• The preschool children visited the school nursery to explore different plants and learn about seed germination. They soaked bean seeds in moist cotton and observed how seeds grow into plants. The children also participated in a joyful Tree Hug Circle Time, where they gently hugged trees and learned the importance of caring for nature. The activity nurtured curiosity, environmental awareness and love for plants.

Day 5: Plant Sorting Basket (Plants & Plant Products)

• The Plant Sorting Basket activity helped children identify and sort various items obtained from plants such as fruits, vegetables, seeds, leaves, flowers and grains. They carefully placed the objects into the correct groups while discussing their uses in daily life. The activity enhanced observation, classification skills, vocabulary and appreciation for the importance of plants.

Garden Giggles Week provided joyful, hands-on experiences that nurtured children’s curiosity, creativity and love for the natural environment while supporting their holistic development.

​CLASSES : III – V RAKHI MAKING CRAFT ACTIVITY BY NIE
Day/Date: Wednesday, 05 August 2026

To celebrate the spirit of Raksha Bandhan, an engaging Rakhi Making Craft Activity was conducted by the Times NIE team for the students of Classes III to V. The workshop was led by experienced resource persons who demonstrated the step-by-step process of creating beautiful and creative rakhis.

Using materials such as Fevicryl Carnival Kit (acrylic colours), Mouldit clay, fabric glue, satin ribbon, paint brushes, water containers, talcum powder, black permanent markers, old newspapers, and aprons, the students enthusiastically designed colourful handmade rakhis. The resource persons guided them in shaping the clay, decorating the rakhis with vibrant colours, and assembling them neatly on satin ribbons.

The activity not only enhanced the students’ creativity and fine motor skills but also helped them understand the cultural significance of Raksha Bandhan and the value of expressing love and affection through handmade creations. The workshop was thoroughly enjoyed by the students, who proudly carried home their unique rakhis.

​CLASSES: I & II WORLD ELEPHANT DAY CELEBRATION
Day/Dates: Friday, 31 July 2026 and Monday, 03 August 2026

World Elephant Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm by students of classes II and I on Friday, 31 July 2026 and Monday, 03 August 2026 respectively to understand the importance of elephants in our ecosystem.

The main objective was to help children learn why elephants, the gentle giants, are important for our lives, how they live and how they survive in the forest. Through discussions, children understood how elephants contribute to the entire ecosystem by spreading seeds, creating water paths and maintaining the balance of nature.

The celebration included several engaging activities:

Class I

• Craft activity - Students created their own colourful badges and wore them proudly back home spreading the message loud and clear.
• ⁠Movie Time: Students were shown a short video highlighting the importance of elephants in our ecosystem.

Class II

• Craft Activity: A special elephant-themed craft was organized which the children enjoyed a lot. They made colourful elephants using paper and other decoration materials.
• Pledge: All students took a pledge to save elephants, protect their habitat, and not harm them.
• Movie Screening: The session concluded with a short movie on elephants. The children watched it with great interest and had wonderful time learning more about these gentle giants.

The activities helped our young learners develop love, respect and responsibility towards wildlife and nature.

​CLASS IX HUNAR-KAUSHAL VIKAS 2026
Showcasing Skills, Innovation and Experiential Learning

The school proudly hosted 'Hunar – Kaushal Vikas 2026', a vibrant exhibition by the students of Class IX during the Parent-Teacher Meeting on Saturday, 01 August 2026. The event provided an excellent platform for students to present the practical knowledge, creativity and life skills they had acquired through engaging summer holiday projects.

The exhibition featured a variety of thoughtfully curated displays that reflected experiential learning and innovation. One of the key attractions was the Vermiponics project, where students demonstrated an eco-friendly model integrating vermicomposting with hydroponic cultivation. Through confident presentations, they highlighted the importance of sustainable farming and environmental conservation.

The Food Preservation section emerged as the most admired and appreciated attraction of the exhibition. Students proudly displayed an impressive assortment of homemade pickles and fruit jams prepared during their summer break, using traditional preservation techniques. Their informative explanations on methods of preservation, hygiene, nutritional value and the significance of reducing food wastage captivated parents and visitors alike. The attractive presentation, authentic products and enthusiastic participation of the students earned widespread appreciation and admiration from everyone who visited the exhibit.

Under the tourism theme, students of Class IX presented models representing different states of India. The models depicted major natural, historical and religious tourist spots along with the rich cultural heritage of each state, including local dress, dance forms, traditional food and handicrafts. Adding to the learning experience was the Health Awareness Camp, where students sensitized visitors about the growing concern of obesity and lifestyle-related health issues. They explained the concept of Body Mass Index (BMI), the importance of balanced nutrition, regular exercise and healthy habits through informative charts, interactive displays and engaging discussions.

The exhibition stood as a testament to the school's commitment to promoting skill development, experiential learning, scientific inquiry, sustainability and holistic education. The overwhelming response from parents and the confidence displayed by the students made Hunar – Kaushal Vikas 2026 a resounding success and a memorable celebration of learning beyond the classroom.

​CLASS VIII ORIENTATION SESSION FOR PEER COUNSELLORS
Day/Dates: Tuesday, August 4 2026

The first Circle Time session for the Peer Counsellors of Class VIII was conducted on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, to formally familiarise students with their roles, responsibilities, and expectations as Peer Counsellors. The session was designed to provide an overview of the Peer Counsellor Programme and develop a clear understanding of the purpose and significance of their role within the school community.

The session began with an engaging introductory activity that enabled students to interact with one another and build a sense of comfort, connection, and collaboration. This was followed by a discussion on the importance of peer support and the meaningful role Peer Counsellors can play in fostering a safe, inclusive, supportive, and empathetic environment for their peers.

The key roles and responsibilities of Peer Counsellors were discussed in detail. Students were guided on the importance of being approachable, practising active listening, demonstrating empathy, encouraging positive behaviour, maintaining confidentiality within appropriate boundaries, and seeking support from the School Counsellor whenever required. Emphasis was also placed on recognising the limits of their role and understanding that Peer Counsellors are supportive peers rather than professional counsellors or decision-makers.

The session further highlighted the importance of commitment, punctuality, respectful communication, responsible conduct, teamwork, and active participation in upcoming training sessions and school well-being initiatives. Students were encouraged to raise questions, share their perspectives, and express their expectations from the programme, ensuring an interactive and reflective learning experience.

Overall, the orientation session established a strong foundation for the Peer Counsellor Programme. The students participated actively, demonstrated enthusiasm and curiosity, and expressed their readiness to undertake their responsibilities with sincerity, sensitivity, and compassion.

​CLASS : V AWARENESS AND SENSITIZATION MODULE WORLD WIDE WEB

As part of the Awareness and Sensitization Module, World Wide Web Day was observed on 03 August 2026. Teachers of class V conducted an interactive session using a PowerPoint presentation (PPT) to discuss the Golden Rules of Web Safety. Through the presentation and discussion, students learned the importance of protecting personal information, creating strong passwords, avoiding suspicious links, respecting others online, and using the internet responsibly.

The session encouraged active participation and helped students understand how to stay safe and become responsible digital citizens while using the internet.
