DENTAL WORKSHOP CLASS : PRE-SCHOOL
“Wellness is the complete integration of body, mind, and spirit!”

A Dental Workshop was conducted for the students of Pre-school on Friday, 25 April 2025. The session was led by a Paediatric dentist, Dr Rewa Malik, who educated the children on the importance of dental hygiene and good oral care practices. The workshop began with an interactive talk where the children were explained the role of teeth, how to keep them clean and why it is important to brush twice a day. Dr. Malik also spoke about the correct technique of brushing as well as healthy eating habits that help maintain strong teeth and gums. She also gave a power point presentation to the students on Oral Hygiene. The need of maintaining good oral hygiene was emphasized upon. She reiterated that all dental problems are man-made & should be treated in the initial stages itself as negligence can lead to decay. Dr. Malik further advised the students to eat healthy. The session helped raise awareness among the young students about oral health in a fun and informative way. The children enjoyed the session and left with a better understanding of how to take care of their teeth.

    WORKSHOP ON JOURNEY TO DU - IMPORTANCE OF CBSE (HOW TO BALANCE CUET & CBSE)

    CLASSES: XI-XII

    Date: 24 April 2025

    DPS Dwarka organised a workshop on ‘How to balance CUET & CBSE’ on 24 April 2025 for the students of Classes XI (all sections) and XII (Commerce & Humanities). The session aimed to provide valuable insights into the CUET paper pattern and how to choose domain subjects.

    The resource person, Mr. Nakul Shairwal, is Delhi’s AICTE MBA topper in International Business and a Career counselor for the last 11 years, who has counselled the students of more than 900 plus schools.

    Mr. Shairwal enlightened the students about the relevance of CBSE in CUET and how an in-depth knowledge of CBSE subjects is important in performing well in CUET.

    He also discussed about the various streams and subjects available at undergraduate level for the Maths as well as Non-Maths students.

    He also discussed about the various universities that come under the purview of CUET. He also spoke about the IIMs which provide five-year integrated programmes at the undergraduate level for students after class XII.

    Overall, it was an enriching session.

      AWARENESS AND SENSITIZATION MODULE - WORLD ENGLISH DAY CLASSES: III, IV & V

      To celebrate the beauty of English language and encourage students to express their creativity through words by writing an acronym or an acrostic poem on the word ENGLISH World English Day was celebrated on 23rd April 2025 by the students of Classes III –V. The day began with a short introduction about why English is an important global language that helps people from different parts of the world to communicate with each other.

      The main activity for the day was to create a full form (acronym) or an acrostic poem using the word ENGLISH. Children used their thoughtful and fun ideas to create it. They wrote the poem in the activity sheet provided to them.

      It was a fun-filled day that helped students grow their love for English language while building confidence in speaking and writing.

        READ ALOUD FUN : WORLD BOOK DAY PRE SCHOOL AND EY1

        On World Book Day, the children were thrilled to listen to the story ‘The Three Little Pigs’ narrated with the help of pop up story book by their teachers. The lively storytelling captured their imagination and filled the room with excitement and curiosity. As they followed the journey of the characters, the kids not only enjoyed the fun and adventure but also understood the magic that books can bring.

        This was followed with a bookmark making activity where the little ones pasted bindis on their bookmarks. By the end of the session, they realized how important reading is for learning, dreaming, and exploring new worlds—making World Book Day truly special for them.

            ACTIVITY : 50 YEARS OF ARYABHATA LAUNCH CLASS : V

            To commemorate the 50th anniversary of launch of Aryabhata on 19 April 1975, class 5 students were engaged in a special session to learn about this significant milestone in India’s space programme.

            The session featured a digi-board presentation showcasing a picture of Aryabhata, sparking curiosity and interest among the young learners. They were enlightened about the date and place of launch and also the sequence of events preceding the building of India’s first satellite and launching it with Russian assistance.

            They were also made aware of India’s Satellite Man – Prof. U R Rao who was the key architect of this mission that marked the beginning of India’s Space era and aimed to inspire students about India’s scientific achievement in the field of space. The students enjoyed the session and appreciated the hard-work and dedication of our scientists who made this achievement possible.

              EARTH DAY CELEBRATIONS CLASSES: PRE-SCHOOL TO II

              We have received these treasures
              As a trust from a beneficent creator
              And it is our duty to handle them on
              Unimpaired to those who will succeed us.’

              The students of classes Pre-School to II celebrated Earth Day with a beautiful message - “Our continuing efforts in our everyday lives will make this beautiful planet thrive.” Echoing the same, our young pre-schoolers’ exhibited their love and respect for this planet by visiting the school nursery and planting saplings. They learnt the importance of keeping Earth clean and green. Children also made Earth Saviour headgears and took pledge to celebrate every day as Earth Day by turning off lights, planting trees, being kind to birds and animals, throwing garbage in bins.

              Students of class Pre Primary presented a special assembly to celebrate Earth day. The environmental crusaders made earth day crafts, talked about the importance of sustainable development and taking care of our planet.

              Raising awareness about the importance of protecting our Mother Earth and the ways to do it, children of class I, nurtured nature by designing a table topper wherein they listed down the ways to make our planet clean and green.

              Students of classes II highlighted the importance of protecting and preserving the green planet by emphasizing on the 3R’s through a Special Assembly, thus strengthening their commitment to save the Mother Earth. Students addressed environmental issues such as deforestation, pollution, and resource depletion, urging everyone to adopt eco-friendly practices.

              Let's continue to nurture this spirit of environmental consciousness and make every day an opportunity to cherish and protect our Earth. Together, we can make a difference!

                EARTH DAY CELEBRATION

                Day & Date: Tuesday, 22 April 2025

                Earth’s oceans, forests, and skies are our lifelines — let’s strive to keep them clean, healthy, and thriving.

                Earth Day, celebrated globally on 22nd April, serves as a powerful reminder of our collective responsibility to protect and preserve the environment. The day aims to spread awareness about environmental conservation.

                We at DPS Dwarka are deeply committed to this cause. On Tuesday, 22 April 2025 various activities were organised to sensitise the students regarding the same. They were encouraged to reflect on their role in safeguarding the planet. The highlight of the day was the audio message by our Hon’ble Chief Minister, Ms. Rekha Gupta, which was played in all classrooms via smart boards. In her message, she emphasized the urgent need to act for the planet and called upon everyone to make environmentally responsible choices.

                Following her appeal, students and their parents were urged to switch off all lights from 8:00 p.m. to 8:05 p.m. as a symbolic gesture of solidarity and commitment towards a greener future.

                Inspired by the CM’s words, the students of DPS Dwarka pledged to adopt eco-friendly practices and become responsible stewards of the planet.

                  EARTH DAY : LEND A HAND TO SAVE THE LAND CLASSES: III TO V

                  On the occasion of Earth Day, Jhelum House organized a special morning assembly titled “Lend a Hand to Save the Land” on Tuesday, 22 April 2025. The assembly highlighted a powerful monologue from the perspective of Mother Earth, reminding everyone of the urgent need to treat the planet with care.

                  It began with a thought-provoking quote by Mahatma Gandhi and a meaningful discussion took place on the consequences of human actions on the environment like rising levels of pollution, climate change and depletion of resources. Students spoke about simple yet effective ways to protect the Earth, such as conserving water and energy, using eco-friendly transport, and reducing plastic use.

                  A touching poem emphasized the emotional connection between humans and nature. The assembly was informative, inspiring and a strong reminder of our duty towards a sustainable future. It concluded with a heartfelt pledge by all students to contribute actively towards saving the planet.

                    INAUGURATION OF THE PICKLEBALL COURT AT DPS DWARKA

                    On Monday, 21 April 2025, a newly constructed Pickleball Court was inaugurated at DPS Dwarka. The event was graced by Ms. Priya Narayanan, Principal, DPS Dwarka, who officially inaugurated the court and addressed the students.

                    In her speech, the Principal emphasised the importance of fitness and physical activity in students' lives. She spoke about the numerous benefits of playing pickleball, highlighting how the sport not only improves physical health but also enhances coordination, focus, and teamwork.

                    The ceremony concluded with a friendly exhibition match, which sparked great enthusiasm and excitement among the students.

                      ME TIME! WEEK CLASS : PRE-PRIMARY AND CAMBRIDGE EY2

                      To make our students aware about themselves and their surroundings and to make them understand the importance of home and school, 'ME Time!' Week was celebrated for the students of Pre Primary and EY2 from Monday, 21 April to Friday, 25 April 2025.

                      An array of activities were planned and conducted throughout the week.

                      Monday, 21 April 2025: Germ Guard - Keeping Germs at Bay, every hour of the day
                      Children were made aware about the importance of washing hands and keeping germs at bay. Also, how germs spread from one person to another was shown to children through a glitter activity.

                      Tuesday, 22 April 2025: My Healthy Tiffin
                      Children carried healthy food items in their tiffins. The importance of eating healthy food was stressed upon.

                      Wednesday, 23 April 2025: I Know My School
                      Children were taken around their school and were shown all important places like clinic, reception, library, activity room, etc. The rules and the importance of maintaining the decorum of the school were also discussed.

                      Thursday, 24 April 2025: Story Narration - My Feelings
                      A story related to how we experience different feelings in different situations was narrated in the class.

                      Friday, 25 April 2025: Poem Recitation - All Of Me!
                      The week culminated with a Rhyme Recitation activity in which children zestfully participated and came prepared to recite the poem titled 'All of Me'. Emphasis was laid on introduction, clarity of speech, and voice modulation.

                      The events of the week helped students develop self-awareness and an understanding of their immediate environment. Enthusiastic participation was witnessed from all the students!

                        GENDER EQUALITY WEEK CLASSES: III-V

                        Gender Equality Week was celebrated for classes III to V from Tuesday, 15 April to Thursday, 17 April 2025 with great excitement and learning. The aim was to help children understand that boys and girls should be treated equally and have the same rights, responsibilities, and opportunities in life. It encouraged the students to support and respect one another irrespective of their gender.
                        To teach students about gender equality in a fun and meaningful way and to appreciate men and women who work to make the world fair for everyone, a special activity sheet was designed which focused on celebrating contributions from both men and women who are champions of gender equality across various sectors. The students identified the famous personalities by looking at their pictures and reading about their achievements.
                        Gender Equality Week served as a powerful reminder for the ongoing efforts needed to create a world where everyone, regardless of gender, has equal opportunities, rights, and respect. The students learnt that we should respect and support one another as boys and girls can both be leaders, learners, helpers and heroes.

                          An engaging Newspaper in Education (NIE) workshop was organised in the school auditorium for the students of Class VI. Highlight of the session was an enthralling magic show that captivated the audience.

                          The magician performed a series of mesmerizing tricks, seamlessly blending illusion with humour. Students were thrilled to witness objects appearing and disappearing, colours transforming, and many more tricks and thrills. The interactive nature of the show encouraged eager participation, with many students volunteering to be part of the magical acts.

                          Beyond entertainment, the magic show stimulated curiosity and critical thinking among students, aligning with educational objectives. Overall, the workshop was a resounding success, providing a delightful and educational experience for the students.

                            THE FIRE SAFETY TRAINING SESSION

                            CLASSES: IX-XII
                            Day / Date: Friday, 11 April 2025

                            Overview:
                            A comprehensive fire safety training session was conducted by the Delhi Fire Services for students of classes IX to XII at DPS Dwarka. The session was structured to deliver critical life-saving information through engaging demonstrations, real-life videos and interactive drills. The workshop was widely appreciated by the students for its clarity, practicality and the high standard of presentation.

                            Key Highlights:

                            Engaging Narrative and Real-Life Stories:
                            The workshop commenced with impactful stories and real-life videos illustrating actual fire incidents. These narratives not only provided a realistic perspective on fire hazards but also emphasized the importance of timely and effective responses.

                            Demonstrations of Fire Safety Devices:
                            Detailed sessions on the usage of fire extinguishers and other essential fire safety equipment were conducted. The live demonstrations showcased proper handling techniques and the critical steps involved in operating these devices during emergencies.

                            Home-Based Fire Safety Measures:
                            Practical advice on immediate actions during a fire incident in a domestic setting was provided. Quick-fire turning off measures were explained clearly, equipping the students with the knowledge to mitigate risks at home.

                            Expert Presentations:
                            The workshop was led by two eminent trainers, Mr. Deepak Narwal and Mr. Jakhar. The speaker Mr. Deepak Narwal, delivered a powerful and engaging presentation, seamlessly combining theoretical knowledge with practical demonstrations. His clarity and commanding presence left a lasting impression on the audience.

                            Conclusion:
                            The fire safety training session at DPS Dwarka was a resounding success. The students benefitted greatly from the detailed demonstrations, interactive discussions, and the practical tips provided by the Delhi Fire Services team. The session not only reinforced the importance of fire safety at a personal level but also inspired the students to adopt proactive measures at home. Overall, the initiative was a fine example of how essential safety protocols can be communicated in a manner that is both informative and memorable.

                              APPRECIATION DAY CLASS : III

                              A day of honour, a day of appreciation, a day of encouragement and motivation! It was the day to felicitate the students of class III for their outstanding academic performance. In order to applaud the efforts of the students for their academic performance for the session 2024-2025, a special assembly marked as 'Appreciation Day’ was organised on Wednesday, 09 April 2025.
                              Ms. Priya Narayanan, Principal, DPS Dwarka and Ms. Anubha Malhotra, Vice Principal, Primary Wing, congratulated the awardees for their remarkable achievement and felicitated them with Honour Roll Certificates for their perseverance, commitment and competence. The Perfect Attendance awardees of the Primary Wing were also felicitated. In all 141 students from class III were the Honour Roll recipients and 22 students from the Primary Wing received the Perfect Attendance Certificates. It was a moment of great pride for the students to be lauded for their stellar performance.
                              The assembly concluded with the National Anthem.

                                GUEST SESSION BY ABHAY MAHESHWARI UNDER THE INITIATIVE – CONNECTING WITH ROOTS

                                As part of the Connecting with Roots initiative, the school had the pleasure of welcoming Mr. Abhay Maheshwari, a proud alumnus, for an inspiring session titled "How to Stay Focused on Your Goal – Advice I Would Give to My Younger Self." The session was conducted on 9th April 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:40 PM.

                                Returning to his alma mater after years, Abhay Maheshwari was visibly nostalgic as he walked through the familiar corridors and revisited the auditorium that once shaped his journey. His heartfelt connection with the school set a warm and personal tone for the session.

                                Speaking from experience, he shared invaluable lessons on maintaining focus, dealing with distractions, and setting clear goals—insights he wished he had known as a student himself. His candid storytelling, peppered with personal memories from his school days, resonated deeply with the audience.

                                The session concluded with a vibrant Q&A, where students eagerly engaged with him on topics ranging from academic motivation to future aspirations. His humility, warmth, and authenticity left a lasting impression.

                                The school extends its sincere gratitude to Abhay Maheshwari for reconnecting with his roots and generously sharing his journey to inspire the next generation of learners.

                                  CAREERS IN PSYCHOLOGY AND LIBERAL STUDIES

                                  A career guidance workshop was conducted today at Delhi Public School, Dwarka, for students of Grades 11 and 12. The session was led by Dr. Yamini Negi, an esteemed academician and psychologist, and focused on exploring career avenues in Psychology and Liberal Studies.

                                  Dr. Negi began by highlighting the growing significance of Psychology in today’s world. She elaborated on its wide-ranging applications in clinical, organizational, forensic, sports, and educational contexts. Students were introduced to the academic journey in the field—beginning with undergraduate studies, moving into specialized post-graduate programs, and culminating in research and doctoral opportunities. She also emphasized the importance of internships and skill-building for practical exposure in psychological practice.

                                  The second half of the session was dedicated to Liberal Studies, a multidisciplinary and flexible stream that encourages intellectual exploration and critical inquiry. Dr. Negi explained how Liberal Studies allows students to curate their own academic path by combining subjects across humanities, sciences, and social sciences. She outlined the vast career prospects this stream offers—including roles in media, journalism, public policy, development studies and communication.

                                  Overall, the workshop was well-received by students and faculty alike. It served as an informative session, equipping students with clarity and confidence to make informed decisions about their academic futures in both Psychology and Liberal Studies.

                                    AWARENESS AND SENSITIZATION MODULE – WORLD FLOWER DAY CLASSES : III TO V

                                    To celebrate World Flower Day, the students of classes III – V participated in a creative corridor board decoration activity on the theme ‘The Language of Flowers’. Each class worked together to decorate their allotted space with beautiful drawings, sketches, and articles related to different flowers and their meanings. Children brought colourful artwork and wrote about flowers symbolizing love, friendship, peace, and happiness. The corridors bloomed with vibrant colours and joyful messages, spreading cheer and knowledge about the language of flowers.

                                      MY WORLD OF COLOURS WEEK CLASS : PRE-SCHOOL

                                      We live in a world of yellow and green,
                                      An abundance of colours rarely seen,
                                      With swirling seas of silver and gold,
                                      And crystal mountain tops never foretold,
                                      Mother Nature’s brushes – purple asters there.
                                      Colours are splashing everywhere.

                                      Our Pre-Schoolers embarked on an exciting journey to explore the vibrant world of colours. 'My World of Colours’ Week was observed for the students of Pre-School from Monday, 07 April to Friday, 11 April 2025. This thematic approach aimed to engage our young learners in various activities that fostered their understanding of colours and encouraged creativity and expression.
                                      The week began with teaching the students colour based rhymes which they recited along with their class teachers. They coloured and decorated an assignment sheet for each colour and made fancy cut-outs. These fancy cut-outs were made using various painting techniques like ear bud painting, balloon painting and sponge painting to name a few. Relevant pictures were also shown on the smart board to reinforce the concept and help students gain better clarity. To make learning fun, children wore clothes of their favourite colour and brought red coloured fruits, yellow corn and green cucumber in their tiffin.
                                      Through these hands-on activities, children unfolded their creative side and became aware of different objects related to each colour. It was surely a week full of vibrant colours and joy!

                                        ALUMNI INTERACTION SESSION – CONNECTING WITH ROOTS

                                        As part of the school’s ongoing alumni engagement initiative, “Connecting with Roots,” a heartwarming and intellectually stimulating interactive session was organized on 7 April 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:50 PM in the school auditorium.

                                        The session was graced by two distinguished alumni — Dr. Anant Vijay Maria and Ms. Aakriti Gulati who returned to their alma mater to share their journeys, experiences and insights with the current Class XI students.

                                        Dr. Anant Vijay Maria, Advocate-on-Record at the Supreme Court and a PhD holder in Insolvency and Bankruptcy Law, shared valuable insights into the legal profession, his academic journey, and the importance of perseverance and self-belief. His humility and clarity of thought resonated deeply with the students.

                                        Ms. Aakriti Gulati, a digital media expert currently working with Dentsu International on Apple’s search engine marketing, spoke passionately about the evolving digital landscape and her experiences working with global brands like Google, Biba, Adidas, and Decathlon. Her dynamic presence and relatable storytelling left students inspired and engaged.

                                        The session was marked by meaningful interactions, thoughtful questions from the students, and heartfelt reflections from both alumni on their school days. It was not only a moment of nostalgia but also a powerful reminder of the impact that school experiences can have on shaping successful and grounded individuals.

                                        The event concluded with a token of appreciation presented to the speakers and a warm message of gratitude. The session was a memorable success, leaving students enriched, motivated and connected to the legacy of Delhi Public School, Dwarka.

                                          WORLD AUTISM DAY

                                          Objective:
                                          The primary objective of observing World Autism Awareness Day on April 2 was to enhance understanding and inclusivity regarding autism, specifically focusing on children with special needs (CWSN) and their interactions with their peer buddies in school. The initiative aimed to foster a school environment where all children learn, grow, and collaborate with empathy and acceptance.

                                          Activities conducted:

                                          • Collaborative activities for CWSN and Peer buddies:
                                            Children with special needs and their peer buddies participated in a handprint activity, where they placed their handprints on a chart paper as a symbol of unity and inclusion.
                                          • Blue ribbon initiative:
                                            As a gesture of solidarity, students of classes II – V wore blue ribbons to symbolize inclusivity and support for autism awareness. Teachers also spoke about autism, helping students develop empathy and a better understanding of their peers.
                                          • Staff participation:
                                            All staff members showed their support by wearing blue coloured clothing and also participated in the handprint activity, reinforcing the message of support and acceptance.

                                          Conclusion:
                                          Observing World Autism Awareness Day helped promote inclusivity, empathy, and understanding among students and staff. Through meaningful activities and discussions, the school strengthened its commitment to creating a welcoming environment where every child feels valued and included.

                                            The Psychology and Counselling Department of DPS Dwarka, along with a dedicated team of 25 volunteers from Class 12, organized a vibrant Autism Awareness Booth on Wednesday, 02 April 2025. Staff members were encouraged to wear blue in support of the ‘Light It Up Blue Campaign’, fostering a united front for autism awareness.

                                            The day commenced with a screening of the short film Amazing Things Happen for students across Classes 6-12, followed by engaging discussions led by class teachers to deepen students’ understanding of autism.

                                            The Autism Awareness Booth welcomed students and teachers alike, offering a range of engaging activities:

                                            • Registration Desk: Recorded participation to gauge outreach.
                                            • Information Desk: Volunteers disseminated knowledge through charts, posters, pamphlets, and interactive discussions. The area was adorned with informative displays.
                                            • Interactive Activities: Students engaged in coloring worksheets, quizzes, and crossword puzzles to enhance their understanding in a fun and meaningful way.
                                            • Wristband Distribution: Volunteers handcrafted special autism awareness wristbands, gifted to students who completed the tour and embraced the message of inclusion.

                                            A special highlight of the event was when the participants dipped their hands in blue paint and imprinted them on the Inclusion banner—a powerful symbol of commitment to neurodiversity.

                                            The event was a resounding success, with a colorful, lively atmosphere that drew enthusiastic participation from students and teachers. The initiative not only educated but also celebrated inclusivity, leaving a lasting impact on the school community.
