On 27 February 2026, a workshop on Assertive vs. Aggressive Communication Styles was conducted for entire teaching fraternity by Ms. Vandana Tandon from the NIE, The Times of India.

The workshop focused on helping educators differentiate between assertive and aggressive communication in classroom settings. Through real life scenarios and role plays, Ms. Tandon highlighted how communication styles impact classroom climate, student behaviour, and teacher student relationships. She emphasized that assertive communication, characterized by clarity, respect, and firm boundaries, maintains discipline without harming self-esteem, whereas aggressive communication may lead to fear or resistance.

Teachers engaged in reflective activities and learned practical strategies, including sentence reframing and body language awareness, to respond calmly and confidently, fostering a respectful and emotionally safe learning environment.

    To promote learning beyond the four walls of the classroom in a fun way Hopscotch on ‘Action Words’ a classic, popular children’s outdoor game was planned on a bright and sunny day i.e. Monday, 23 February 2026.

    It promoted physical activity, balance, coordination and agility as players hopped through hooplas placed on the floor. The game involved tossing die on the ground and moving through the pattern without landing on the hoopla. It helped children develop social skills like turn-taking, patience and following rules.

    Simple verbs like Jump, Run, Skip, Clap, Dance, Spin, Hop, Nod, Wave, Stretch, Eat, Drink were used which were easy to read and enact.

    This activity boosted vocabulary, coordination and understanding of "action words". It also engaged students in hands-on experiences that helped them grasp the concept of verbs.

      Science is an integral part of our daily lives and making it fun and interactive is essential for the young learners. To encourage curiosity and make learning science concepts a fun experience for the students, some hands-on activities were conducted in class V on Monday, 23 February 2026.

      Such activities help students grasp complex concepts easily, develop critical thinking and problem solving skills. The ‘Science is Fun’ activity was thus planned to bring science to life, making it an enjoyable experience for class V students, which included the following activities –

      1. Balloon Rocket
      2. Walking Water
      3. Sedimentation / Decantation / Filtration
      4. Jal-Tarang

      This helped to build confidence in children, as they presented each activity confidently, explained the underlying principles and answer the queries put up by their peers.

        On Thursday, 19 February 2026, Delhi Public School, Dwarka, hosted a comprehensive NIE (Newspaper in Education) Orientation workshop in the school auditorium. The session was conducted by the NIE team and led by Ms. Melody, Director of NIE, who served as the primary resource person. The primary audience for this session were the students Class VIII.

        The workshop was centered around an interactive PowerPoint presentation that highlighted several key themes:

        • The Power of Reading: The NIE team emphasized how regular newspaper reading enhances vocabulary, critical thinking, and global awareness.
        • The Need for Credibility: In an era of misinformation, the presentation underscored the importance of relying on verified and credible journalistic sources.
        • Skill Development: Students were guided on navigating various sections-from editorials to sports - to extract relevant information efficiently.

        A significant portion of the workshop was dedicated to a hands-on newspaper review. Following the review, student suggestions for future editions were invited, ensuring active participation and an empowering learning experience. By treating the students as active stakeholders rather than just passive readers, the NIE team ensured that the session was both informative and empowering.

          Times NIE 18 Under 18, introduced a special initiative celebrating India’s most inspiring young leaders across 18 categories, including leadership, creativity, sports, social impact, innovation, and more.

          Schools across India nominated deserving students between 27 January and 10 February 2026. The final selection was made by a distinguished jury panel, which evaluated nominees on the basis of originality, impact, and overall excellence.

          Ammie Arora XII D of DPS Dwarka brought laurels to the school by winning in the Music Prodigy category. Her remarkable talent, dedication, and artistic excellence have earned her this national recognition.

            On Thursday, 19 February 2026, the students of class II visited the National Rail Museum as part of an educational excursion. The purpose of the visit was to provide students with experiential learning about trains and the history of railways.

            During the visit to the Rail Museum, the children observed various types of locomotives, including steam and diesel engines, along with different railway coaches. They also explored models of railway stations, tracks and signalling systems. The students enjoyed a ride on the toy train, which was a memorable experience for them. They showed great curiosity, asked questions and actively participated throughout the visit.

            The trip was informative and enjoyable, helping students enhance their knowledge and observation skills.

            Overall, the visit was a valuable learning experience for the children.

              THEME: “ENDING DISCRIMINATION, ENSURING DIGNITY”

              The Sparsh Leprosy Awareness Campaign (SLAC) 2026 was observed in Delhi Public School Dwarka from 30th January to 13th February 2026 with great commitment and sensitivity. The campaign aimed to create awareness about leprosy, dispel myths associated with the disease, and promote the values of empathy, inclusion, and dignity for all.

              This year’s theme was, “Ending Discrimination, Ensuring Dignity”.

              The following activities were conducted by students of classes VI- VIII in life skills classes.

              • Pledge Taking Ceremony:

              Students participated in a pledge-taking ceremony where they affirmed their commitment to spreading awareness, avoiding discrimination, and supporting individuals affected by leprosy with compassion and dignity.

              • Poster Making Activity:

              Students enthusiastically created creative posters highlighting messages promoting equality and respect for people with leprosy.

              • Educational Video Screening:

              Informative video clips related to leprosy were shown to students to enhance their understanding of the disease, its causes, prevention, and treatment. The videos also emphasized breaking myths and addressing social stigma.

              • News Reporting Discussion:

              Students engaged in discussions based on recent news reports related to leprosy awareness initiatives across the country. This interactive session encouraged critical thinking and helped students connect classroom learning with real-world efforts.

              • The observance of Sparsh Leprosy Awareness Campaign 2026 was a meaningful initiative that reflected the school’s commitment to social responsibility and value-based education. Through collective efforts, the school reaffirmed its dedication to promoting dignity, equality, and compassion for all.

                The occasion was marked by spirited participation and creative expression. The students of Class IX showcased their artistic flair through engaging activities such as collage making and T-shirt painting. Through vibrant colours and thoughtful designs, they beautifully depicted the school’s illustrious journey, its guiding principles, and the milestones achieved over the past three decades. Each creation reflected pride, gratitude, and a deep sense of belonging to the DPS Dwarka community.

                Adding a meaningful dimension to the celebration, a plantation drive was conducted in the school’s herbal garden. This thoughtful initiative underscored the importance of environmental consciousness and sustainability, values that the institution has consistently upheld. By nurturing saplings, students symbolically reaffirmed their commitment to growth, responsibility, and a greener future.

                  The morning assembly of Class IV C was conducted on Monday, 16 February 2026 on the topic “Thankfulness – A Gift That Multiplies” The assembly began on a proud note with the felicitation of students who brought laurels to the school by winning various prizes in academics, sports and co-curricular competitions. Respected Vice Principal Ma’am and teachers congratulated the achievers and appreciated their hard work and dedication. The applause from the audience filled the atmosphere with joy and encouragement.

                  The assembly commenced with an inspirational song sung by school choir expressing deep gratitude for nature, life and God’s blessing. The Thought for the Day beautifully conveyed the message that gratitude turns what we have into enough, and helps us focus on the positive aspects of life. Students highlighted that thankfulness is the beginning of gratitude and that a thankful heart is the parent of all virtues. They explained how gratitude improves our well-being, makes us happier, and helps us appreciate even the smallest blessings around us.

                  A meaningful poem titled “Gratitude Grows” was recited, emphasizing that a simple “thank you” can brighten someone’s day and spread kindness everywhere. Spreading the message that gratitude multiplies when shared.

                  The assembly concluded with a heartfelt Gratitude Pledge where students promised to spread kindness through their words and actions and be thankful to their family, friends, and school. As examinations are approaching, students were also given useful tips to prepare well for their examinations by studying regularly, revising lessons, sleeping well, staying calm, and believing in themselves. The assembly ended with the National Anthem, leaving everyone inspired to practice thankfulness every day.

                  Overall, the assembly was informative and inspiring, spreading the beautiful message that gratitude truly multiplies when shared.

                      Dates: 11 and 13 February 2026

                      The students of classes III, IV and V were taken on educational visits to prominent historical museums in New Delhi as part of the school’s experiential learning programme.

                      Class III visited Gandhi Smriti Museum, on Wednesday, 11 February 2026. Classes IV and V visited on Friday, 13 February 2026. On this day, Class IV visited Gandhi Smriti Museum, while Class V visited Pradhan Mantri Sangrahalaya, Teen Murti Marg.

                      The objective of these visits was to enhance students’ understanding of India’s rich history, freedom struggle, leadership values and the contributions of great national leaders. The programme aimed to promote experiential learning beyond the classroom and enable students to connect with historical events in a meaningful and engaging manner.

                      At Gandhi Smriti, students observed rare photographs, personal belongings and exhibits related to the life and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi. They walked along the path marking Gandhiji’s final footsteps and learned about his principles of truth, non-violence, simplicity and dedication to the nation.

                      At the Pradhan Mantri Sangrahalaya, Class V students explored interactive galleries showcasing the lives, achievements and leadership journeys of all the Prime Ministers of India, beginning with Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The museum’s modern digital displays, immersive audio-visual presentations, holograms and touch-screen exhibits made the learning experience lively and engaging.

                      The educational visits proved to be enriching, informative and memorable experiences. They not only broadened the students’ knowledge but also inspired them to appreciate the values of leadership, patriotism and responsible citizenship.

                            The International Day of Happiness is celebrated throughout the world on 20 March every year. To share happiness with friends and family, classes I and II students celebrated the day on Thursday, 12 February 2026. They enthusiastically participated in a vibrant craft activity, creating colourful confetti art with the slogan "Be Happy and Make Others Happy!" They enjoyed sprinkling multi-coloured confetti and crafting the happiness message.

                            The children beamed with pride, learning that small acts can bring big smiles. Their beautiful creations were displayed outside the classrooms, which added to the colourful and vibrant atmosphere of the school.

                            This activity proved powerful, because it helped them to share and spread the joy they bring amongst each other.

The event was organised by the Chemistry Department, whose meticulous efforts culminated in a truly motivating experience.

                              The event commenced with a curtain raiser by the school choir whose mesmerising notes reverberated through the audience. It was followed by a soul-stirring prayer by Principal, Ms. Priya Narayanan, invoking divine blessings for the students' success, fortitude, and unwavering focus. This invocation was seamlessly followed by a thought-provoking skit on Exam Preparation, imbuing the students with the virtues of confidence, positivity, and discipline, essential tools to navigate the forthcoming annual examinations. They highlighted the significance of prudent time management, assiduous revision, and a harmonious work-life balance. The evocative poem that followed extolled the virtues of perseverance, self-belief, and unrelenting hard work, leaving the audience spellbound.

                              As the melodious strains of the motivational song, 'Showers of Blessings', filled the auditorium, a wave of hope, enthusiasm, and positivity washed over the gathering, infusing the students with renewed zeal and determination. The grand finale, a rousing rendition of the National Anthem, brought the assembly to a close, reaffirming the students' commitment to excellence and patriotism.

                                The Symphony of Seasons Week was conducted for the Cambridge Early Years 1 from Monday, 02 February to Friday, 06 February 2026 with the aim of familiarizing children with different seasons and the changes they bring in weather, clothing, nature, and daily life.

                                Throughout the week, children were introduced to summer, winter, autumn, monsoon and spring through guided discussions, season-based craft activities and activity sheets. The activities included creative craft work related to each season, observation of natural changes and completion of structured worksheets to reinforce learning. Children also shared their personal experiences related to different seasons, promoting communication and social interaction.

                                Overall the programme provided an engaging and meaningful learning experience, effectively supporting conceptual understanding through hands-on activities and age-appropriate teaching methods.

                                  1800 students and 100 teachers from Delhi Public School, Dwarka attended the telecast.

                                  The honorable Prime Minister interacted and addressed questions raised by students from different parts of the country. The Prime Minister emphasised on adopting a positive approach towards learning and life. He laid importance on building confidence, improving student’s well-being and encouraged them to cultivate leadership qualities.

                                  The programme focused on overall development rather than academic performance.

                                    1883 students and 100 teachers from Delhi Public School, Dwarka attended the telecast.

                                    The honorable Prime Minister interacted and addressed questions raised by students from different parts of the country. Valuable guidance on examinations, importance of stress free learning environment, supportive role of teachers and parents and advise to respect the child’s individuality and strength were some of the highlights of the interaction.

                                    The programme was enriching, inspirational and much appreciated by all.

                                      A Shopping Bonanza was organised in the Pre-Primary courtyard on Thursday, 05 February 2026, where the space was transformed into a bustling mall filled with excitement and learning with different shopping counters like Milk Booth, Toy Shop, Fruits & Vegetables Shop and Stationery Shop. Children of class Pre-Primary bought entry tickets from the ticket counter at the entrance of the Shopping Mall. They enthusiastically took on the roles of shopkeepers and customers, making the experience lively and engaging.

                                      Through this activity, children practised money transactions, addition and subtraction using dummy currency, reinforcing classroom concepts in a hands-on manner. They also developed communication and social skills by learning how to buy, sell and interact confidently with their peers.

                                      As a creative takeaway, the children made colourful money pouches, which helped enhance their fine motor skills and creativity.

                                      Overall, the activity made learning about money fun and meaningful, while building confidence in applying these skills to real-life situations.

                                        Perseverance and hard-work are the core necessities of a student’s school life. To emphasise the importance of these quintessential qualities, Delhi Public School, Dwarka conducted a special assembly on the topic ‘Perseverance and Hard-Work’ on Tuesday, 3 February 2026 in the school’s auditorium.

                                        The assembly was organised by the Sanskrit department. The gathering began on a reverent note with a prayer led by Principal, Ms Priya Narayanan, creating an austere ambience for the occasion. This was followed by a melodious and captivating rendition of the song ‘Twamev Mata’, by the school choir.

                                        Students of classes VI -VIII held the audience spellbound with insightful recitations and poetic presentations that underscored themes of determination, steadfastness and diligence. Subsequently, the students took a solemn pledge, reinstating their commitment to working hard and methodically.

                                        A standout segment of the programme was the prize distribution ceremony. The 7 participants of the 3rd Edition of the Sakai India Children’s Art Exhibition, along with 11 participants of the Japanese Language Mini Camp were acknowledged and honoured by the Principal for their proactive participation in various activities in the camp.

                                        The programme drew to a close with a moving recital of the National Anthem. Overall, the assembly proved to be a motivational endeavour, specially with annual examination approaching shortly.

                                          Objective:

                                          The objective of the activities was to promote inclusion, peer support and experiential learning among students through nature based exploration and creative skill-building.

                                          Activity Conducted:

                                          Students with diverse learning needs from classes Pre Primary - II, along with their peer buddies, participated in a nature walk within the school campus, guided by the school gardener. The walk provided a relaxed and engaging setting where students observed plants, trees and their surroundings, interacted positively with one another and enjoyed learning beyond the classroom. The activity encouraged cooperation, bonding, and an appreciation of nature, making it both fun and meaningful for all the young learners.

                                          In another activity, students of Classes III to V took part in an origami session aimed at enhancing creativity and fine motor skills. Two students from class V guided in folding paper and creating origami models. Their leadership fostered collaborative learning and motivated young learners to participate actively, making the activity both enjoyable and educational.
