WORKSHOP ON EFFECTIVE USE OF OXFORD MATHEMATICS TEXTBOOKS AND OXFORD EDUCATE PLATFORM

With the objective of enhancing teachers’ understanding and effective utilisation of Oxford Mathematics textbooks, an informative and enriching workshop was conducted by Ms. Vinita Sareen from Oxford University Press on Friday, 29 May 2026 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. for the teachers teaching Mathematics to classes 3 to 5.

The workshop focused on familiarising teachers with the effective use of Oxford Mathematics textbooks and the diverse digital resources available on the Oxford Educate platform. Emphasis was laid on integrating technology into classroom instruction to make Mathematics learning more interactive, engaging and competency based. Teachers were also informed about the ISBN numbers that facilitate easy access to digital resources on the Oxford Educate platform.

During the session, Ms. Sareen explained the various features of the Oxford Mathematics textbooks in detail and demonstrated how digital tools and resources could be effectively incorporated into daily teaching practices. Teachers were guided on accessing worksheets, lesson plans, assessment tools, teaching aids and interactive digital content available on the Oxford Educate platform. The practical demonstrations helped teachers understand how these resources can strengthen conceptual clarity and promote activity based learning in the classroom.

Ms. Vinita Sareen introduced the Dynamic Question Bank (DBQ) and elaborated on its significance in classroom teaching and for assessment. She demonstrated how teachers could access both teachers as well as students’ resources for enhanced instructional support. The session also highlighted the inclusion of clearly defined learning outcomes, curriculum goals and competency goals to support systematic lesson planning and effective implementation of competency based education.

 

The workshop further emphasised strategies to promote experiential learning and improve conceptual understanding in Mathematics through meaningful integration of technology into classroom teaching. The session encouraged teachers to adopt innovative teaching practices that enhance students’ participation, engagement and overall learning outcomes.

The workshop proved to be highly informative, interactive and beneficial for all the teachers. It provided valuable insights into efficient utilisation of digital resources for strengthening mathematical understanding and enriching classroom instruction.

    Delhi Public School, Dwarka organized its mandatory Annual Training and Sensitization Program on POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) and POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) statutory compliance on Friday, 29 May 2026. The session aimed to refresh institutional knowledge and establish a uniform safety protocol across the campus.

    The training was conducted by resource persons Dr. Anant Vijay Maria (Advocate on Record, High Court of Delhi and Supreme Court) and Ms. Aakriti Gulati (Expert Trainer in POSH Compliance). The session targeted the entire school workforce, including teaching faculty, administration, and support staff.

     

    Module I (POCSO): Focused on the school's zero-tolerance policy toward child abuse, best practices for professional boundaries, and the strict legal obligation under Section 19 for mandatory, immediate reporting of any suspected misconduct.

     

    Module II (POSH):Outlined workplace misconduct guidelines and detailed the role, strict confidentiality, and time-bound mechanism of the school’s Internal Complaints Committee (ICC). Special emphasis was placed on ensuring support staff—such as transport and security personnel—fully understand their workplace safety rights.

    Through practical case studies and an interactive Q&A session, staff were guided on handling student disclosures with empathy and maintaining vigilance across campus blind spots. Moving forward, the school reinforced immediate escalation protocols and will prominently display updated helpline numbers and ICC contact details across campus to ensure a safe, compliant educational ecosystem.

        A workshop on “Basic Counselling Skills” was conducted for the teaching staff on Tuesday, 26 May 2026, by Ms. Saumya Taneja, a Clinical Psychologist at Fortis Hospital. The aim of the workshop was to enhance teachers’ understanding of student mental health and strengthen their communication and support skills within the school setting.

        The session highlighted various psychosocial challenges faced by students, including academic stress, peer pressure, emotional difficulties, behavioural concerns, and the impact of social media. Teachers were sensitized to the importance of early identification and emotional support for students experiencing distress.

        Key areas covered during the workshop included empathy, active listening, non-judgmental communication, effective questioning techniques, and recognizing signs that may require referral to a mental health professional. Stress management and healthy coping strategies were also discussed.

        The workshop was interactive and informative, with active participation from the teaching staff. Practical examples and discussions helped teachers relate the concepts to real classroom situations.

        Overall, the workshop was well received and proved beneficial in promoting a supportive and mentally healthy school environment.

              The Orientation Programme for Cambridge Early Years 1 was held on Tuesday, 24 March 2026 at Delhi Public School, Dwarka, wherein parents were apprised about the curriculum and other activities through a vibrant video and PowerPoint presentation. Followed by this, the Curriculum Walk-Through sessions for Cambridge Early Years 2 - Primary Stage 5 were conducted successfully in the months of April and May. While the Curriculum Walk-Through for Early Years 2 was conducted on Saturday, 25 April 2026, the same for Stage 1, 2 and 3 was organized on Saturday, 9 May 2026. This was followed by the Curriculum Walk-Through for Stage 4 and 5, held on Saturday, 16 May 2026.

              The Curriculum Walk-Through for Cambridge Early Years 2 and Primary Stage 1-5 commenced with an informative Power Point presentation by the class teachers, highlighting the significance of the Cambridge curriculum and familiarizing parents with its approach and objectives. Special emphasis was laid on guiding the parents of Stage 5 learners regarding the upcoming Checkpoint Assessment and the transition of learners to Grade 6 in the next academic session.

              Adding a special touch to the event, the confident learners of Stage 4 and 5 presented a heartfelt poem titled From Curious Minds to Confident Learners, beautifully reflecting upon their learning experiences and growth throughout the previous academic year.

              The classrooms were attractively decorated with Learners’ work and projects from various subjects, showcasing their creativity, understanding and achievements. Parents appreciated the effort and enthusiasm displayed by the children.

              The event concluded with one-on-one PTM sessions, wherein parents received valuable feedback regarding their child’s academic progress and overall development.

              All in all, the Curriculum Walk-Through proved to be an enriching and engaging experience for both parents and students alike.

                  INTER-DPS TABLE TENNIS TOURNAMENT BOYS (OPEN)-2026

                  DPS Dwarka hosted the Inter-DPS Table Tennis Tournament Boys (Open) – 2026 on 14 & 15 May 2026, under the aegis of The DPS Society. The inaugural ceremony was graced by the distinguished presence of Mr. Ashok Kumar, Retd. DGP, Uttarakhand and Vice Chancellor, Rai Sports University, Haryana as the Chief Guest. Mr. Ajay Pal Singh, Retd. DCP Delhi Police and an accomplished Hammer throw athlete and Mr. Sandeep Gupta, a Dronacharya Awardee and renowned Table Tennis Coach were the distinguished guests.

                  Ms. Dolly Chanana, Director, The DPS Society and the National Convenor of the Inter-DPS Table Tennis Tournament Boys (Open)- 2026 also graced the occasion with her esteemed presence.

                  The ceremony commenced with the hoisting of the DPS flag and the singing of the National Anthem, instilling a spirit of patriotism and unity among the participants. This was followed by an impressive performance by the School Band, the ceremonial lamp lighting, a soulful choir presentation, and an energetic dance performance that added vibrancy to the occasion.

                  Ms. Priya Narayanan, Principal, DPS Dwarka, warmly welcomed the esteemed guests, participating teams, coaches, and officials from 48 Delhi Public Schools across the country. In her address, she conveyed best wishes on behalf of Mr. V. K. Shunglu, Chairman, The DPS Society, for the grand success of the tournament. She highlighted the importance of sports in inculcating values such as discipline, dedication, perseverance, and teamwork, while encouraging participants to uphold the true spirit of sportsmanship.

                  Addressing the gathering, Mr. Ashok Kumar emphasised the significance of sports and physical activity in maintaining a balanced and healthy life. He encouraged students to actively pursue sports and represent the nation in Table Tennis at the Olympic level. He also administered the oath wherein all participants pledged to uphold the spirit of fair play and show respect to their opponents.

                  The tournament was officially declared open by Ms. Dolly Chanana. She appreciated the efforts of the host school for organising the event seamlessly and motivated the participants to compete with confidence in the tournament.

                  The Valedictory ceremony was graced by Ms. Indu Puri, a legendary table tennis player and recipient of the prestigious Arjuna Award. An eight-time National Women’s Singles Champion, she had represented India at numerous international championships and holds the distinction of being the first Indian woman to defeat a reigning World Champion. Young TT prodigies Deevansh Mudgal, and Dhaani Jain also motivated the participants with their presence.

                  In the Singles event First position was bagged by DPS Vasant Kunj followed by DPS Bangalore East and DPS Gurugram Sector 45 at the second and third positions respectively.

                  In the Team Championship the winner’s trophy was bagged by DPS Bangalore East. Teams from DPS Gurugram Sector 45 and DPS R.K. Puram emerged as the First and Second Runners Up respectively.

                  Aashman Singh Chadha of DPS Dwarka was adjudged the Best Player of the Tournament.

                  The tournament came to a close with the lowering of the DPS flag. The two day event was a celebration of talent, determination, and the spirit of healthy competition.

                    The participants enthusiastically presented a variety of performances including singing, dancing, poetry recitation, storytelling and art activities.

                    The atmosphere was filled with excitement, happiness and appreciation as every performance was warmly applauded by teachers and fellow students.

                    The Talent Show celebrated individuality, creativity and participation. It encouraged self-expression, built confidence among the students and promoted an inclusive and supportive environment where every child felt appreciated and motivated to participate.

                      Delhi Public School, Dwarka organized the RICER Week from 11 May to 15 May 2026 for the students of Cambridge Primary Stage 3, 4, and 5, in order to highlight and promote the Cambridge Learner Attributes — Responsible, Innovative, Confident, Engaged and Reflective.

                      The week commenced with an interactive speaking activity wherein learners confidently shared a few lines about the importance of the RICER attributes and how these qualities help them become better learners and individuals. The activity encouraged students to express their thoughts clearly and develop confidence in public speaking.

                      As part of the celebrations, learners also participated in a creative badge-making activity. Students enthusiastically designed colourful badges showcasing the Cambridge Learner Attributes using decorative materials provided in class. The activity fostered creativity, teamwork and a deeper understanding of the values represented by RICER.

                      The week proved to be an enriching and engaging experience for the learners. Through these thoughtfully planned activities, students reflected upon the importance of developing positive learner attributes and demonstrated active participation with great enthusiasm and zeal.

                        To promote mental health awareness, emotional resilience, and mindfulness among students the school successfully organized "Mind Matters Week" from Monday,11 May 2026 to Friday,15 May 2026 for students of classes III to V.

                        Monday: 11 May 2026: Positive Self-Talk Posters

                        Fostering a growth mindset while challenging negative self-criticism, students designed creative visual posters using A-4 pastel sheets, sketch pens, and vibrant decorative materials . The classroom was filled with empowering phrases such as "I will try again”, “I won’t give up” and "Mistakes help me learn," reinforcing positive internal growth.

                        Tuesday: 12 May 2026: Freeze Your Feelings

                        To develop emotional awareness and self-regulation an interactive on-the-spot action game was played inside the classrooms where children made expressions of being sad, happy, surprised, confused, shocked etc and thereby learnt to identify physical and emotional triggers, practicing how to pause and control their impulses in a fun environment.

                        Friday: 15 May 2026: Guided Meditation and Yoga

                        The week concluded with a structured session of deep breathing exercises, basic yoga and calming postures to relieve academic stress and learn lifelong relaxation techniques. Students reported feeling mentally refreshed, deeply relaxed, and better equipped to handle daily anxieties.

                        Mind Matters Week successfully highlighted the vital connection between emotional well-being and academic success. The hands-on activities provided students with practical, actionable tools to manage their emotions and maintain a positive attitude.

                          An engaging movie session was organized for the children with special needs to promote important life lessons through storytelling. Two short films based on themes of honesty, patience, wisdom, courage and smart decision-making were screened during the activity.

                          The students watched the movies with great interest and enthusiasm. The stories captured their attention and helped them connect with the characters and situations in a meaningful way.

                          After the screening, an interactive discussion was conducted where the children shared their thoughts, expressed their understanding of the stories and discussed the moral values they learned.

                          The activity encouraged participation, thoughtful interaction and learning through storytelling. It also helped in developing communication skills and understanding of positive behaviour in everyday life.

                          The session was both interesting and educational, creating a positive and meaningful learning experience for all the learners.

                            An interactive session on “Bright Eyes, Healthy Vision” was conducted for the students of Pre-School 1 on Wednesday, 13 May 2026, in the Activity Room of the Pre-School Block. The session was led by Dr. Tulika Gupta, Consultant at SGT Hospital and Medical College, and was organised in two phases at 9:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.

                            The session aimed to create awareness among young learners about the importance of eye care, healthy visual habits, and maintaining good vision through engaging and age-appropriate activities. The doctor interacted warmly with the children and explained the significance of taking care of their eyes through simple and interesting discussions.

                            The students were introduced to healthy eye-care habits such as eating nutritious food, limiting screen time, maintaining cleanliness, and protecting their eyes while playing.

                            The informative session proved to be highly beneficial and enjoyable for the students. It helped them understand the importance of healthy vision and encouraged them to adopt good habits for eye care from an early age. The students gave thank you card to the resource person to express their sincere gratitude to the doctor for her valuable time and contribution towards spreading awareness among the young learners.

                              The event was conducted in a cheerful and comfortable environment where the children enthusiastically gathered to enjoy the movie with their classmates and teachers. The screening created an atmosphere of excitement and joy, allowing the students to relax, interact, and develop social bonding.

                              Throughout the movie, the children remained attentive and thoroughly entertained by the colorful characters and amusing storyline. The event also helped enhance listening skills, imagination, and emotional understanding among the students.

                              Overall, the Movie Time event was a great success and provided the children with a memorable learning and entertainment experience. Such activities play an important role in the holistic development of young learners by combining fun with social and emotional learning.

                                    To celebrate Mother’s Day the students of classes I & II enthusiastically participated in the “Match Mom’s Work” game on Monday, 11 May 2026.

                                    Picture cards with captions like Cooking, Teaching, Gardening and Caring were displayed. Students were called forward and asked to match actions such as “Mom cooks food” with real items like spoon, book, broom and yoga mat placed on the table.

                                    The activity helped children recognize and respect the diverse roles and efforts of mothers in our lives. It enhanced listening skills, vocabulary and real-world connection through hands-on play.

                                    A tearing and pasting bouquet craft for class I was a fantastic, fine-motor-focused Mother's Day activity that let students create a personalized, lasting gift. By tearing paper into small pieces and pasting them onto a bouquet template, children build hand strength, coordination and creativity while producing a heartfelt keepsake.

                                    The celebration acted as a lesson in gratitude and emotional expression, allowing young learners to understand the importance of mothers in their lives.

                                        Delhi Public School, Dwarka organized the Scholar Badge Ceremony on Friday, 08 May 2026 to felicitate the young scholars of class V for their exemplary academic performance during the session 2025-26 in Class IV. Dr. Nandini Chaudhuri Sen, Member, Managing Committee, DPS Dwarka, was the esteemed Chief Guest.

                                        The event began with a melodious performance, by the school choir, creating an ambience of joy and celebration. This was followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp to mark the auspicious beginning of the event.

                                        Ms. Priya Narayanan, Principal, DPS Dwarka, extended a warm welcome to all the guests. In her address, she commended the students for their hard work and emphasised the vital role parents play in their holistic development.

                                        The Chief Guest congratulated the Scholar Badge awardees and appreciated their sincere efforts. She also highlighted how this institution nurtures and shapes children into confident individuals, who stand out and are well-prepared for the future. Dr. Nandini Chaudhuri Sen encouraged parents to work in close collaboration with teachers and emphasised the importance of being present for them, serving as positive role models.

                                        The main attraction of the cultural programme was an inspiring talk show presented by the students of class V on the topic 'Ikigai – Raison d’être!' emphasising the importance of discovering one’s purpose in life and striving for a meaningful and balanced existence. This was complemented by a brief choral recitation on the theme, ‘Learn with Purpose and Grow with Passion’, which highlighted the value of setting meaningful goals and nurturing one’s interests with dedication. The recitation beautifully conveyed how purposeful learning and passionate effort lead to personal growth and lifelong success. This was followed by the Scholar Badge Ceremony, wherein the students were felicitated for their praiseworthy performance in the previous academic session. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Ms. Anubha Malhotra, Vice Principal, DPS Dwarka. The event proved to be a grand success and was appreciated by all present.

                                          The Pre-School1 children participated in a creative bouquet-making activity where they designed colourful paper bouquets for their mothers using cut-outs and decorative materials. They also prepared special coupon books carrying sweet promises such as “A Hug for You” and “Help with Cleaning,” with guidance from their teachers. The children happily presented these handmade gifts as tokens of love and appreciation. Classrooms were beautifully decorated with hearts and flowers, creating a cheerful and festive atmosphere.

                                          The Pre-Primary children enthusiastically sang Mother’s Day songs and shared a few loving words about their mothers. Teachers explained the importance of a mother’s love and care through a thoughtful activity using a pot as a symbol of nurturing and growth. The children also completed an EVS booklet activity by pasting a tulip flower on a pot worksheet and joyfully sang the poem written on it. To make the celebration special, they created beautiful Mother’s Day wall hangings using hand printing, colourful straws, and sweet messages dedicated to their mothers.

                                          The celebration concluded on a happy and heart-warming note with the children excited to present their handmade crafts and gifts to their mothers.

                                            • Students brought boiled chickpeas with fresh, chopped vegetables like onions, tomatoes, cucumbers and carrots seasoned with lemon juice and chaat masala.This high-protein, fiber-rich recipe taught students to appreciate nutritious food that is easy to prepare.

                                            The learning outcome of the week promoted parental involvement.                                               The Pre-School celebrated Yellow Colour Day with great enthusiasm and cheer on Thursday, 07 May 2026. The aim of the activity was to introduce children to the colour yellow through fun, hands-on experiences and to strengthen colour recognition in a playful environment.

                                              The day began with children arriving in bright yellow attire, creating a sunny and joyful atmosphere across the classroom. Many children also brought yellow food items in their tiffins such as yellow fruit, yellow rice, and other yellow snacks, adding to the theme and encouraging healthy eating.

                                              The main activities included a Yellow Treasure Hunt where children explored the activity room to find and collect various yellow-coloured objects. This activity helped develop their observation and motor skills while making learning interactive and engaging. Following this, the children participated in Colouring Fun, where they coloured a picture of a chick yellow using crayons and colours. The little ones also enjoyed making yellow buses with tearing and pasting activity and happily took them home.

                                              Overall, Yellow Colour Day was a lively and enriching experience. The children enjoyed learning about the colour yellow while building confidence, social interaction, and a sense of participation.

                                                    Delhi Public School, Dwarka organised the Scholar Badge Ceremony for Class VI on Tuesday, 05 May 2026, to felicitate the outstanding academic achievements of students for the session 2025-26. The event was graced by Dr Ishank Jain, Attending Consultant, Radiology, Saral Diagnostics and Dr Anant Vijay Maria, Advocate-on-Record, Supreme Court of India, as Chief Guests, along with proud parents, making it a memorable celebration of dedication and excellence.

                                                    The ceremony commenced with the auspicious lighting of the lamp followed by a captivating orchestra performance and a soulful choir presentation, which set a vibrant and inspiring tone. The highlight of the cultural programme was a motivating talk show presented by the students of Class VI on the topic, ‘Be Responsible at a Young Age’, emphasising the notion that small acts of reliability today build the foundation for leadership tomorrow.

                                                    Ms Priya Narayanan, Principal, DPS Dwarka, applauded the diligent efforts of the students. In her inspiring address, she reminded the recipients that while the badge is a mark of achievement, it also carries the responsibility of becoming kind and thoughtful individuals. Emphasising the school's philosophy, she concluded by encouraging students to dream bigger and reminded them that true excellence lies not just in being the best, but in always doing one’s best.

                                                    The Chief Guests, Dr Ishank Jain and Dr Anant Vijay Maria, distinguished alumni, emphasised the importance of maintaining a lifelong connection with the school community, urging students to build lasting friendships, remain perpetually curious, and practice kindness alongside hard work. They further highlighted that the current achievements of the school are a testament to the collective efforts of the faculty and students, encouraging everyone to trust the process of growth and continue to push themselves beyond perceived limits.

                                                    The event culminated with the felicitation of the scholars for their outstanding academic performance. They were awarded Green Badges and certificates as a mark of appreciation and encouragement. Parents expressed heartfelt gratitude and appreciated the school’s continued commitment to recognising merit and promoting excellence.
